Did you read it? I take it you didn't, because she used the term "legally" and I just corrected it because it's a common misconception as I said. And again, did you read it? She's shrieking about my personal issues when I've been nothing but perfectly reasonable. I was rude when she tried to switch subjects without even acknowledging that she made an incorrect statement, which is against board rules. As were her personal attacks saying I was somehow in the wrong because of my personal issues, which have not been an issue because when I pointed out that the US and North Korea are not "legally" (her term) still "at war" I did it in a perfectly polite way. So you need to back the hell up and not make accusations that clearly aren't true because it's all in black and white. Frankly, if anyone has a vendetta it's the people accusing me of conduct that is 180 degrees opposite from reality.Ralin wrote:She's clearly goddamn saying that she considers it a war despite the legal definition. North Korea tells citizens to 'prepare themselves for famine'
No surprises here, then.
SourceNorth Korea has told its people to prepare for famine in what it has ominously described as a second “arduous march”.
An article published in the state-run Rodong Sinmumn newspaper has urged citizens to prepare for economic hardship, warning that “the road to revolution is long and arduous. We may have to go on an arduous march, during which we will have to chew the roots of plants once again”.
The term was coined following the four-year famine which started in 1994 and was responsible for the deaths of around 3 million North Koreans.
The famine took hold following a period of economic mismanagement, natural disasters and the collapse of the Soviet bloc.
The South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo, which is a reliable source of information emerging from the hermit kingdom, has reported that the regime has recently collected 1kg of grain from every Pyongyang [capital city] citizen every month.
“People are getting anxious because the regime is forcing farmers to give extra food donations to the military,” the paper added.
It is thought the famine warning is set to last three years.
The developments come less than a month after the UN Security Council voted to impose tougher sanctions following the countries’ recent nuclear war tests.
It went on to say allegiances to Kim Jong-un, the countries’ leader, should not waver. “Even if we give up our lives, we should continue to show our loyalty to our leader, Kim Jong-un, until the end of our lives,” it added.
North Korea has requested almost half a million tons of food aid from other countries, but only around 17,000 had been delivered by February.
No surprises here, then.

If they had spent their money on agriculture instead of nukes, they might have enough food to feed their people. But no, that would be too rational.

But then how else are we going to blackmail the rest of the world to give us food without the nukes? Duh.

Re: General North Korea thread
And now, apparently, North Korea has declared China to be their enemy. Also, is there some requirement that the Chosen One become obese? His Specialness is starting to look like Veruca Salt post blueberry gum, but minus the blue coloring.
I think The Mirror's take on this is slightly hysterical, but it covers the important points.
The Mirror has also recently reported that South Korea has developed a "black out bomb" to disable North Korea's power grid in the event of an attack. North Korea has a power grid?
I think The Mirror's take on this is slightly hysterical, but it covers the important points.
Perhaps more ominous is that earlier His Specialness told the Norks to prepare for three years of famine. Hmm....Kim Jong-un has threatened China with 'nuclear war' after declaring the country an 'enemy of North Korea .'
The portly despot reportedly launched a scathing attack on Beijing for taking part in UN sanctions against his regime.
Officials circulated a document dated March 10 which slams China for "betraying socialism" and threatens to clamp down on them with the force of "a nuclear storm."
It states: “We must no longer go easy on the Chinese and instead deal with them equally in order to change their attitude of taking us lightly."
The report, which positioned China as 'the detested enemy' was published by the Workers’ Party of North Korea and picked up by South Korea-based news site Daily NK.
It adds: "All Party members and workers must join in soundly crushing China’s pressuring schemes with the force of a nuclear storm for its betrayal of socialism.”
China defended North Korea in the 1950-53 Korean War and was seen as the country's closest ally and largest trading partner.
But earlier this month the country agreed to a US proposal that would dramatically tighten existing restrictions after North Korea's nuclear test on January 6.
Lee Young Hwa, a professor at Kansai University, said North Korea has openly declared China to be an ‘enemy state,’ placing it on the same ranks as South Korea, the US, and Japan.
He said the document explains China has “been an eager participant” in the sanctions because it is “worried that its status of dominance in Northeast Asia will be challenged.”
Another part orders North Koreans to “unite more firmly around Marshal Kim Jong-un and fight to the very end for final victory in our juche revolutionary feat, even if graver hardships and difficulties blow this way.”
Lee added: “It has now positioned the US as the ‘feared enemy’ and China as the ‘detested enemy’.
"The use of the term “nuclear storm” also indicates it is threatening Beijing with nuclear and missile provocations."
It comes in the same week North Korea released a bizarre propaganda video featuring an attack on America.
The Mirror has also recently reported that South Korea has developed a "black out bomb" to disable North Korea's power grid in the event of an attack. North Korea has a power grid?

I am pretty sure most NK experts already say NK thinks China betrayed socialism a long time ago. Maybe the only fat man in Korea now thinks the PRC has crossed another line.

Huh, I actually thought that was an April Fool's for a minute until I saw the publish date. I wouldn't actually put The Mirror above such antics, though.
So this pretty much completes NK's isolationist drive. I'm really starting to wonder how long The Fat One can keep on inventing crises like this to stop people from getting mightily pissed off. My guess is 'quite a long time' :/

Maybe they can solve the famine problem by feeding Special Fat One less?

You wouldn't think so; if you look at a nighttime satellite photo of the area, you can see the precise line of the north and south borders — the brightly lit urban landscape in the South and in China stops dead apart from a few little specks here and there.Broomstick wrote:The Mirror has also recently reported that South Korea has developed a "black out bomb" to disable North Korea's power grid in the event of an attack. Re: General North Korea thread
DPRK has a power grid, but it powers only very specific industrial objects. This is why at night the cities are dead. There's no light on the streets and windows, no lit shops etc. that create the nighttime lights. Other things that create huge lights are oil refineries and gas-burning installations (none to be found), traffic-assisting light on roads (none to be found)...
I think the EMI devices SK makes are pretty useless. The analog equipment that DPRK uses in most of its industrial production and weaponry is immune to such things anyway.

North Korea 'missile crashes' moments after launch
South Korea says suspected mid-range ballistic missile crashed, which would be second such failure in recent weeks.
28 Apr 2016 09:11 GMT | War & Conflict, Asia Pacific
North Korea fired what appeared to be an intermediate-range ballistic missile on Thursday but it crashed seconds after the test launch, South Korea's defence ministry said.
North Korean officials did not immediately comment.
Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett, reporting from Seoul, said the South Korean defence ministry claimed the missile was fired at 6:40am local time.
A defence ministry official told the Reuters news agency that it appeared to be a Musudan missile with a range of more than 3,000km - the same type of rocket believed to have failed in a test launch earlier this month.
The powerful mid-range missile could one day be capable of reaching far-off US military bases in Asia and the Pacific. It exploded in the air a few seconds after it launched, the Southern official said.
"We are also hearing from the semi-official Yonhap news agency, citing unnamed military officials, that it was not detected on the South Korean military radar system because it apparently did not get high enough to be detected by that system," Fawcett said.
He added, though, that it was detected by a US intelligence satellite over North Korea.
'Eye-opening success'
The apparent launch came as the Koreas traded threats as Pyongyang expressed anger over annual South Korean-US military drills that the North calls a rehearsal for an invasion.
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hailed a submarine-launched ballistic missile test as an "eye-opening success", declaring that Pyongyang had the ability to strike Seoul and the United States whenever it pleases.
The reported crash comes ahead of a major ruling party meeting next week in Pyongyang.
"It is a very rare event," Fawcett said. "It is the seventh such event since the foundation of the ruling party of North Korea. It is very much centred around the personage of Kim Jong-un and his general status."

Well, from the scientific method perspective, an utterly pant-shitting failure can be an eye-opening success, so they ain't completely lying...

The North always calls the drills a rehearsal for invasion. Since this is the same country that insists that the South started the war in their propaganda it seems they are slowly starting to believe their own silly version of events.

North Korea detains Russian Yacht.
They are poking the Russians now too.Moscow demands N.Korea's explanation on detenion of Russian yacht
May 14th 2016 6:25AM
MOSCOW, May 14 (Reuters) - A North Korean coast guard ship has detained a Russian yacht with a crew of five people on board, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, adding it had sent a note to Pyongyang demanding explanation for the cause of the detention.
The yacht was on its way from South Korea's port city of Pusan to Vladivostok in Russia's Far East when it was detained 80 miles (129 km) off the coast in North Korea's exclusive economic zone on Friday, the ministry said, giving no further detail.
The yacht is now in the North Korean port of Kimchaek, and Russia's consul general is awaiting permission from the authorities to meet the crew, the ministry said, adding that their lives or health were not in danger. (Reporting by Dmitry Solovyov Editing by Jeremy Gaunt.)
