Bernie's the way of the future? Democratic socialism has legs, but Sanders not so much I think. His moment was in 2016, and he blew it.

I think he means Bernie's policies/movement, not Bernie himself. Realistically, Bernie will never be President. The question is who, if anyone, can succeed him as leader and standard-bearer for the Left in America, with AOC being the obvious candidate (even as a Bernie fan, I'll freely acknowledge that AOC is basically everything good about Bernie, minus a lot of Bernie's weaknesses).

In more disappointing news for progressives, early results suggest that Ilhan Omar may have just lost her primary.

Mixed bag today. Omar is struggling and may lose her primary. Also, a runoff in Georgia looks to be won by the Q Anon candidate, and given that its apparently a solid red district, there will likely be at least one open Q Anon believer in the House next year to shame America with their presence.

On the plus side, as I noted earlier, Dems flipped an SC State House district by a twenty point margin.

Considering that Bernie already conceded it comes off as petty regardless.

There is a decent amount of pettiness behind it. But it’s also based on real concerns about how he would scorch the earth if the nominee wasn’t a friend of his, or if he felt (for no good reason) that he deserved the nomination but wasn’t given it. I’ve been over this a hundred times in the past. I’m not terribly interested in relitigating it in detail again with a ban hammer hanging over my head.

Its just frustrating to see people seemingly determined to refight these fights when the primary's been effectively over for months and Bernie and Biden have been nothing but gracious and cooperative toward each other in that time. It irritates me when Bernie or Busters do it. It irritates me when Bernie opponents do it.

The closest Squad race was Omar's in Minnesota. In spite of the usual lowlifes pumping millions to her main opponent (to the point where they had about the same amount of campaign money), giving him a few million more in free media puff pieces while doing one article after another about how she's in deep trouble with "stiff opposition", plus the non-stop hatchet jobs on her, she won by 18.2%.

That is EXACTLY the same margin by which Reagan beat Mondale in 1984. Now Mondale may have had a reputation for stiffness, but it wasn't because he was much of an opponent against Bitburg Ronnie. In fact, that margin of victory was and still is one of the greatest blowouts in electoral history. But for an immigrant black Muslim woman with a headdress, it's only squeaking by. I found this response on Twitter to be the perfect summation of the media's latest fit of bias:

The only reason I can think of that you want to be permanently banned is to support your narrative “See, they all support genocide, and look they banned me for exposing them!”

As for TRR I think his core issue was that he was unable to see those that disagreed with him as truly human, that in his mind if you politically disagreed with him you had to be doing evil for its own sake and do so knowingly. That's why he didn't tone things down when he should have, because he honestly thought there was no need. That said that's my impression and as he's not here to defend himself I don't want to talk about this further.

Biden is up 10 points in the national polls. In key states, even some states he should not lead it, he is up past margin of error. Trump still hasn't done jack and shit about COVID except to dump trillions in the markets to 'stabilize' them. People are broke, unemployed, and scared shitless about getting sick and the GOP led government isn't helping them.

It is really unfortunate Trump is going after the mail for obvious corrupt reasons. But, again, the GOP Senate feels like it's no big deal and left on vacation. I've accepted the fact that the US postal service will be fucked up for this election. That said, it's not as dire as it first sounds. That I'm aware of, correct me if I'm wrong about individual states here and there, but all states should have county drop boxes for mail in votes whether they are a new thing this year or absentee ballots.

Plan early, vote early, go to the county drop box and put it in yourself so they don't have to rely on the USPS. 80 something days to figure out how to go from your home to the county drop box. Do it and vote the piece of shit out and set up a Presidential Commission on the last 4 years.

I’m very worried that the whole conniption about mail-in voting starting months ago was that the Russians have hacks for the voting machines, and the mail-in vote would represent an unhackable paper trail. Now I have the choice of mail voting that might not get counted or in person vote that might make me sick and might not get counted.
