Say what?

Elaborate, please!
You can't spell "NOPEC" without OPEC.

Apparently the laws of geology and the well-being of the oil producing nations' people are not enough of a barrier to the water cooler tyrants in Washington.
That piece of legislation has not been passed into law, it's bumming around in the Senate picking up Republican sponsors left right and sideways for about four years now because A. it looks good to the people back home to say "Look at me, I want to get back at those turban wearing bastards and help make it affordable to drive SUVs again!" and B. President Bush has made it clear that he'll veto the damn thing if it ever passes (which it has about a snowballs chance in hell to do because everyone on capital hill knows it's idiotic.)

As for the OT...

Eh.

Ancient. The fact that Iran was behind that is oooooooold. And courts ruling on matters like this are just as old. I.E. the UTA Flight 103 trial, the Khobar towers trial, and a few others which I can't remember right now.

Not helping in the PR front for Iran though... and that is a shame.

To the tune of at least several billion dollars. In 1979 the US froze something like 10 billion in Iranian assets, and unfroze only around 75% in 1981 when the hostages where released. The US and Iran still dispute the true value of everything.
