Impeachment is not realistic because the Democrats fear (correctly, I'm afraid), that the American public will react poorly to their attempts to impeach Bush or Cheney, the Republicans will all rally to the defense of their Dear Leader, and the Democrats will lose the 2008 election. It's unfortunate that impeaching a President because of a blowjob is seen as okay, while impeaching him for crimes against the Constitution is not.

I'm going to have to agree that at this point, impeachment would be a mistake. President Puppetine and Darth Cheney both deserve it, but there's so much political gain the Republican Party could easily make from it. There's just too many idiots out there that think you should support your leader during wartime, regardless of how competent or incompetent he happens to be. With those morons out there and the effort it would involve, it could be disastrous to try impeaching the two. Unless something bigger is dug up, something that the average mouth breather's going to really care about, impeachment will serve mostly to make the Democratic Party look like they're trying to get revenge or are being childish because they lost the last election. Nixon (wisely) resigned before impeachment took place. Sadly, I think this is a lose-lose prospect for the Democrats. Impeach and look like they don't support the leader during a time of war or don't impeach and look spineless.
