My guess is it's because his age has put one of his feet in the grave, and, thinking this is his last chance for the top office, he's become desperate. Hillary seems to have the same problem. The Spartan wrote:Something has happened to him in the interim, I don't know what it is, but whatever it may have been has turned him into something... wrong.

Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.
Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.
They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

I think everybody figured out something screwy is going on with the electoral process, whether it is controlled or not if they don't play ball they can't get in.
it could be as simple as an agitated political environment that encourages super delegates to screen out candidates that aren't "Viable" with that determination being heavily influenced by the media. it could be that they have interpreted the electoral college to be voting very diferently than the popular vote.
I think McCain changed his tune right about when the Democrats sngged the majority, because the republicans realized taht with captain clusterfuck holding down the presidency they were going to need to be UBER UNIFIED to avoid losing control of the government.
Regarding Hilary, i don't think she is comfortabl being a leader. She is great as a supportive leader, but she blew it on her campaign a thousand different ways, including the now typical "Waiting too long to get out" flaw that Gore and kerry shared. She might be a great Vice presient for someone other than Obama but it seems like she has committed some overt maneuvering to pressure obama into appointing her that would cloud any position she held.
Is it abad sign that none of our leaders have a strong moral compass?
Well theres taht one guy who SAYS he ahs a strong moral compass, but I am pretty sure he's confusing compass with weathervane.

Why is this assumption McCain was such a stand-up, principled man until Bush? Honestly, why? This is a man who left his crippled wife and cruised the beauties. He had started romancing his second wife while still married. He was a solid Reaganite during those years. He's one of the Keating Five, so don't even try that political money angle.

What makes you possibly think McCain is the lesser? Hillary comes off as unprincipled now due to her campaign actions, but I don't remember anything specific that paints her as worse than McCain in 2000.montypython wrote: It's more a lesser of the two evils than anything else all things considered.

Hillary is power-hungry, scandal-producing, and out for herself first.General Zod wrote:What makes you possibly think McCain is the lesser? That being said, that's a common trait in politicians, and in my mind, doesn't compare with overturning Roe V. Wade, preventing marriage equality, stopping the GI Bill, and having as your economic advisor the guy who wrote the legislation that enabled the housing boom-bust.

And whose wife was Ronald Reagan's "favourite economist", who deregulated the agricultural commodities market, thus making today's wild agricultural commodity price swings possible.SirNitram wrote:That being said, that's a common trait in politicians, and in my mind, doesn't compare with overturning Roe V.
