Did`t Sweden plan to phase out both nuclear and fossil fuel based energy till the year 2020? At least something like that I heard some time ago. Apparently Swedish politicians chewed more than they could swallow.

Yes, it says so in the OP. It seems swedish nuclear policy became something of a backseat topic here.

Solar will last till the sun goes nova. Wind and hydro until not much sooner. Possily billions of years past the end of the worlds supply of nuclear fuel.
Since by your definition every energy source is unsustainable, why bother bringing up the unsustainable talking point? After all, none of these sources has the advantage of being sustainable, thus you must compare other qualities to decide which one is better.

Let me make a guess what happen. You shot your mouth off with the nuclear being "unsustainable", and when it was pointed out nuclear can out last other so called "sustainable" energy sources, you deliberately changed the definition of sustainable from the usual context to "must last forever, wah wah". Nice attempt to save face, except it just ended up making you look even more stupid.

By the way, the sun can't go nova. Its the wrong type of star. I knew that when I was, what 11. I expect you now nit pick the definition of "nova". Maybe you say nova just means the sun dies, instead of the usual definition.

His Divine Shadow wrote:Their opposition is partly defined by a hate of nuclear (miljöpartiet dom flummiga). And the head of their social democrats publicly spoke against nuclear power like a few weeks ago.
That is why she was furious yesterday. Rejecting the proposal could cost S the election when the industry workers cross the block line for a sane energy policy, accepting it might cost them the left half of the party when publicly employed women defect to the communists and greens... A most disagreeable position to be in.

I heard an estimate (sorry, can't find the source) that, with breeder reactors and the ability to use thorium as fuel, we have enough nuclear fuel on earth to supply double our current energy needs for longer than it will take the sun to expand and either engulf the earth or push us out of orbit, thus destroying life on this planet as we know it. This would mean that nuclear power is more sustainable than solar. Take this unsourced assertion for what it's worth.
