Even assuming that's so, why are you assuming that Israel only cares about the US press/government?

I wouldn't say they only care about the US, but clearly it's the most important country to keep on Israel's side. Aside from the money and weapons, there's the diplomatic cover Uncle Sam provides. The overwhelming number of the Security Council resolutions against Israel were vetoed only because the Americans vetoed them. Look at the votes in the UN: It's the rest of the world vs. America-FUCK YEAH! and a few islands in the South Pacific.

By the way, this is how it was with Apartheid-era South Africa (who could count on Israel's vote), too. It was only when the groundswell of hostility to Apartheid forced Congress to (a) pass sanctions and (b) override Von Reagan's veto* of the sanctions that South Africa lost its automatic protection against the UN.

Shep you sort of missed the point. The policemen who were killed did not necessarily belong to paramilitary groups, and may not have taken part in them. God, why do you always wreck these topics by saying "Israel is good it's those evul palestinians." Does not change the fact that during Gaza plenty of soldiers committed cold blooded murder towards civillians. The report does get many things right, and the majority of the palestinians who died were innocent. Stop changing the point because of your racism.

NEW YORK – A well-known American Jewish attorney who worked to deport former Nazis from the US is urging American officials to bar former judge Richard Goldstone from entering the country over his rulings during South Africa’s apartheid regime.

In a letter sent to US officials, Neal Sher, a former executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, said that recently disclosed information about Goldstone’s apartheid-era rulings raised questions about whether he was eligible to enter the United States. The letter was sent to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, US Attorney-General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

Individuals who admit to acts that constitute a crime of moral turpitude¨are ineligible to enter the US, Sher charged. The recent public revelations, to which Goldstone has reportedly admitted, would appear to fit within this provision. At a minimum, there is ample basis for federal authorities to initiate an investigation into this matter, Sher said.

Goldstone, the author of a report accusing Israel of war crimes during Operation Cast Lead, sat as a judge in South Africa during the apartheid regime. He has faced recent charges that he sent 28 black South Africans to their deaths. Goldstone has defended his rulings, saying he was part of the system and had to respect the laws of the land at the time, including enforcing laws he opposed.

In his judicial position, according to Sher, Goldstone was instrumental in effectuating and legitimizing a regime universally known for its widespread human rights abuses.

Sher, formerly director of the Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigations, was instrumental in deporting dozens of Nazi war criminals. He played a major role in placing Austrian president Kurt Waldheim on a watch list of people ineligible to enter the US.

Sher had his own brush with trouble later, when he was investigated for misappropriating funds from the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims.

So a shyster lawyer who was disbarred for stealing money intended to reimburse victims of the Nazi Holocaust wants to keep Goldstone out of the country?

The Goldstone report itself says that HAMAS after it's election victory merged the Gaza Police with it's Executive Force style Stormtrooper Battalions -- and that despite a huge number of Gazan "policemen" being SA Mann, it's really a civilian police force, cross your fingers and hope to die!

If that excerpt is typical of the rest of the report itself...

I mean that the Executive Force's composition is as you allege. Furthermore, just because Hermann Goring deputized the entire SA as auxiliaries to the Prussian police force doesn't mean general attacks against the latter would've been justified.
