75 Year Old Woman Single-handedly Cuts Off the Internet

Ok, so someone digging accidentally cut a cummunications line. Other than the age of the person doing the digging and cutting,what the fuck makes this news worthy? Line breaks like this happen a lot, guys. Next thing I know we're gonna have a thread because some useless twat with a journalism degree decided to write a piece about the sky being blue.

What makes it newsworthy is that she managed to break the Internet connection of two small countries by cutting the cable- I for one would not have thought she could take down that much network that easily.

I could do the same thing by digging a 4ft trench in a fiend of mine's back yard and probably shut down most data in north Alabama and Southern Tennessee. About the only news worthy bit to this is how it highlights how data infrastructure in certain countries isn't properly survey'd and noted on charts. Really, this would be like if my bro Tim's grandmaw decided to re-landscape her lawn and took out all data going to and from Madison CO into Tennessee.

Except for Russia, I don't think any other nation in the world can really be condemned for not stopping him. Refusing to do business with batshit crazy dictators doesn't make them less crazy, just less rich. And military intervention in a country surrounded by Russia, Iran, and Afghanistan... physically possible maybe, but not something I can imagine anyone wanting to do without Russian consent. Russia- well. They at least had the physical capacity to do something.

Considering America easily intervened in Afghanistan and also set up military bases in former Soviet Central Asia, the physical capacity could be there (obviously with Russian consent). The problem is that both Russia and everyone else consented on that it doesn't matter. Of course, Russia is the primary culprit, or, should I say, Russian elites.
