And now it turns out, despite the Obama campaign attacking Romney's Bain tenure, polls indicate that Americans don't care about any of these "issues" Obama is bringing up, and still believe Romney's Bain tenure makes him the better choice to get the economy back on track.
Attacks on Obama about "Why is unemployment still above 8% Mr. President" carry more weight than "When did you leave Bain capital Mr. Romney"

When it was profitable to make jobs, Romney seems to have had no problem with making jobs.
When it was profitable to kill jobs, Romney seems to have had no problem with killing jobs.
To my way of thinking, this doesn't recommend him as the man to fix an unemployment problem.

I think people are looking at the fact that Romney is a successful businessman and is therefore better qualified to fix the economy rather than any of the unsavory details of jobs killed during his business career. Some people would even say "so what if he cut jobs, or shipped them overseas, sometimes you have to do that as a successful businessman." In some twisted way making an argument that since Romney is able to make hard business decisions like that, he is better fit to handle the economic crisis.
