If not for the fact that a disturbed woman was shot dead and her 1 yo child probably put at serious risk I would laugh my ass off that a single woman in an Infiniti jumping a barricade resulted in hundreds (possibly thousands) of heavily armed and fully body armed federal agents while the rest of DC was put into total lockdown and basically told to cower under their desks.

If you use violent force and cause the injury of police officers, other law enforcement will start treating you as a threat. Congratulations, you've been taken seriously by men with guns! Except that involves getting shot if they think you're still posing a threat. Rats.

The other part of the takeaway:
Yeah, we're on a bit too much hair-trigger alert. While the police response was probably justified (give or take a little), having the rest of DC on lockdown and treating this as major breaking national news just means we're too jittery for our own good.
