This strikes me eerily of the beginning of McCarthyism back in the 50's, or the Salem Witch Trials. Don't like your neighbor? Accuse him of being gay. Political rival? Gay. I assure you that list will not stop at only 200 of the "top homos". This is going to get very ugly.
Seeing as Nigeria recently wrote up a very similar law there are already some questionable incidents happening over there. Much of sub-Saharan Africa, I think, is going to become a worse place for homosexuals to live, and unfortunately unless the first-world nations say something along the lines of "no more aid until you give them their basic rights back", it's just going to continue.
It really doesn't help that both Islamic and Christian fundamentalists are only getting stronger, either. Boko Haram in Nigeria, for one. The really wretched thing about this situation is that it's something that both breeds of fundies can actually agree on...

Boko Haram in Nigeria,
Ah yes, those tough guys who massacred a school full of children today. They must have huge balls for slicing the throats, gunning down or even burning alive defenceless children for the 'crime' of going to school. Worthless drops of barbarian diarrhea
Museveni also told CNN that the West should not force its beliefs onto Ugandans.
"Respect African societies and their values," he said. "If you don't agree, just keep quiet. Let us manage our society, then we will see. If we are wrong, we shall find out by ourselves, just the way we don't interfere with yours."
He also said Westerners brought homosexuality to his country, corrupting society by teaching Ugandans about homosexuality. The West has also helped make children at schools homosexual by funding groups that spread homosexuality, he said.
Only because you can't.
I'm all for breaking away from the paternalistic West and so on, so we can assume that the Ugandans are willing to forgo any possible aid here? Because that, at the very least, would be consistent and I could respect to some degree
I would have thought that 'Anglo-Saxon' (as much as the term has any meaning in the modern period) would be a subset of 'British' rather than the other way around. What definition of the term are you using?
I meant Anglo-Saxons primarily in Britain proper (but also in the colonies/settlements that were mostly controlled by Anglo-Saxons).
