So? Given the state of German nuclear energy it is more like she tried to be corporate friendly and then abandoned it after the public opinion changed massively. That is not the same thing as the kind of maneuvers that would be required to even be electable in a GOP primary.

Between Mitt Romney and John McCain, neither looked like that big radical, they also got degrees from fairly difficult courses. Both their wives were active in philanthropy, Ann Romney competed in highest level national sport while Cindy McCain runs one of largest beer companies in USA. So, I wouldn't say it's that simple.

There are some things she is not willing to do, as evidenced by her history in the GDR. She wasn't willing to be a communist to become a politician.

That assessment is wholly dependent on if you think nuclear power is a good idea or not. I think the way it is being implemented in Germany is not one, so I don't support German nuclear power.

Yep, saw it. Oh, she's got more than average... Just not exceptionally more. I'm interested, because it might say something about cultural differences between here and where you are, and I've become interested in that lately (well, not specifically where you are, but between here and anywhere else). What people consider totally normal somewhere, that's considered weird elsewhere. Easy example - the apparent US thing about people flying a flag in their yard. I don't think anyone flies a flag in the entire suburb here (excluding officially, like the council).
But totally off-topic. I should start a thread if I want to talk about this.
