yes it truely is probably the single most useful plant known to man, with uses as energy both as a biomass fuel and as food, as all different kinds of applications from non-toxic paint to engine lubricant to any real use for a high quality oil that doesnt get destroyed easily, as a fiber that is more efficient than wood pulp to make higher quality paper at a lower price more ecologically friendly, plus it's psychoactive agent acts as an appetite stimulant, anti-nauseant (one of the best), painkiller, anti-depressant, and several other medical uses have been identified, there is even some evidence that quite contrary to popular opinion it INCREASES immune system effectiveness (the increased rate of disease among heavy smokers can be linked to two things, 1. sharing of pipes and joints and blunts with several people, equivalent of being a promiscuous kisser, and 2. the smoke unless filtered and cooled can cause irritation and temporary damge to the throat which allows for it to be infected (able to be removed as a risk either through water/ice cooling OR through eating cannabis rather than smoking it or through using a vaporizer that's temperature is such that only the THC (which is an oil at room temperature with a lower vaporization temporature than the tar and other oils and vaporizes at a lower temp than the plant material burns at) vaporizes and that vapor is inhaled causing no lung damage)

yes, but remember that pot is already the US's #1 cash crop, with the state with the highest agricultural production growing more pot than anything else.

Considering how cheap it is to grow hemp, the gov't can grow and sell marijuana, taxing the hell out of it during the process, and still have it cheaper than the stuff usually sold in the streets. California definitely should do this, especially since we're desperately in need of money right now.

the cost of growing high quality stuff is rather higher than for the kind that grows easily in the ground. And high quality would be the healthiest for the gov to sanction, considering that you inhale fewer cubic inches of smoke per high with higher quality, that means fewer carcinogens and less particulate matter.

In order to grow high potency, you need to spend alot for hydroponic equipement, constant fertilization (which after a point has to be applied to the plant's leafs not the roots), lighting sources which take up a good amount of power, and higher than room temp temperatures with constant humidity. growing high potency cannabis is a time consuming agricultural art, that has been mastered by many, but it still costs alot to be done properly (all of this knowledge is purely academic mind you, i could be wrong, but from the reports that I have read comming from growers in holland, this is what it is)
