Actually, I dug into it, and I got mixed results. I asked a LIHOP believer where he based it off of, and he pointed me to something Jeb signed on the 7th, Florida Executive Order No. 01-261:Illuminatus Primus wrote:...the hell?Hamel wrote:Add in Jeb Bush putting Florida under martial law for no apparent reason on the 7th, and you have something that doesn't smell right.

So, from that, I wasn't too convinced. It seems kinda routine, like he just wants to get some training going for the National Guard. 'Training' really stuck out, and the whole thing didn't sound like martial law~"I hereby delegate to The Adjutant General of the State of Florida all necessary authority, within approved budgetary appropriations or grants, to order members of the Florida National Guard into active service, as defined by Section 250.27, Florida Statutes, for the purpose of training to support law-enforcement personnel and emergency-management personnel in the event of civil disturbances or natural disasters and to provide training support to law-enforcement personnel and community-based organizations relating to counter drug operations. This Executive Order shall remain in full force and effect until the earlier of its revocation or June 30, 2003."
No other state had done something similar yet; florida declared a state of emergency before DC and NY. Doesn't make sense."I hereby declare that a state of emergency exists in the State of Florida... The authority to suspend the effect of any statute or rule governing the conduct of state business, and the further authority to suspend the effect of any order or rule of any governmental entity... The authority to seize and utilize any and all real or personal property as needed to meet this emergency... The authority to order the evacuation of any or all persons from any location in the State of Florida, and the authority to regulate the movement of any or all persons to or from any location in the State; The authority to regulate the return of the evacuees to their home communities... I hereby order the Adjutant General to activate the Florida National Guard for the duration of this emergency."
And not to metion publically disowned him (something very important in the Middle East where family and the connections it brings are very important) and cut him off from the family fortune. I love how so many people here the surname bin laden and automatically assume a family of hundreds are all indentical clones of Osama.HemlockGrey wrote:Of course, as far as I know the Bin Laden family made their fortune in construction and are not bloodthirsty terrorists."He watched the September 11 attacks at the Ritz-Carlton with the Bin Laden family. Technically it wasn't. The order granted the authority for it if necessary but so far as I know martial law was not actually declared.Hamel wrote:Not to mention that people under Jeb have strongly denied that martial law was declared
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/stor ... 87,00.htmlWASHINGTON (AP) - The chairman of a federal commission looking into the Sept. 11 attacks said Thursday that mistakes over many years left the United States vulnerable to such an attack, but he resisted pinning blame on either of the last two presidential teams.
``We have no evidence that anybody high in the Clinton administration or the Bush administration did anything wrong,'' chairman Thomas Kean said in an interview with ABC's ``Nightline'' taped for airing Thursday night.
....Dude, W was in the FL at the time, and for the president's proximity and relation he had a quick, to the point connection which allowed him to get the balls rolling quickly.Hamel wrote:Not to mention that people under Jeb have strongly denied that martial law was declared
That makes a lot of sense, didn't think of thatIlluminatus Primus wrote:....Dude, W was in the FL at the time, and for the president's proximity and relation he had a quick, to the point connection which allowed him to get the balls rolling quickly.Hamel wrote:Not to mention that people under Jeb have strongly denied that martial law was declared
They were actually at the same event, IIRC--as soon as W knew, Jeb probably could know bad shit went down and declare emergency.Hamel wrote:That makes a lot of sense, didn't think of thatIlluminatus Primus wrote:....Dude, W was in the FL at the time, and for the president's proximity and relation he had a quick, to the point connection which allowed him to get the balls rolling quickly.Hamel wrote:Not to mention that people under Jeb have strongly denied that martial law was declared
