Wait, this doesn't make sense to me. They teach abstinence-only, so kids go out and have more sex? I could understand if there was a rise in the number of STIs reported among this demographic, but a rise in overall sexual activity?Iceberg wrote:According to the Minnesota Department of Health, sexual activity among junior high school students has doubled since the five-year "ENABL" (Education Now And Babies Later) program started. There is nothing surprising at all about abstinence-only education leading to more sexual activity. Prohibition tends to increase demand.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Under his logic, someone's diet of ice cream and candy is making them gain weight because they're not eating enough.Iceberg wrote:A wonderfully illuminating quote about the goals of the abstinance squad:
Tom Prichard, president of the Minnesota Family Council, which supports abstinence-only education, said he wasn't surprised by the findings, either. However, he said ENABL isn't working because it doesn't go far enough in its abstinence message. Kids should be told not just to abstain until they are adults, but rather to wait until they are married to have sex. He also said the program is not long enough or clear enough in its message that kids should also abstain from any physical or sexual contact.

It can mean that abstinence only programs have no effect, and there is some other variable that has increased the sex rate.Uraniun235 wrote:Wait, this doesn't make sense to me.
