Kerry wins Iowa

Edwards looks squeaky clean compared to practically- everyone else. There MUST be something wrong with him.
Kerry eh? I can see that guy as President. Though he reminds me of a "Tom Clancy movie" POTUS.

I'll put it this way, I'd prefer Dean. But with the alternative being another 4 years of Bush, beggars can't be choosers. I'll happily take either Kerry or Edwards if it means Bush goes away.

Actually, no, it couldn't have been. Lieberman is a Republican who likes to run around claiming that he's a Democrat, and then likes to piss and whine when no one endorses him because he's got no chance of winning.Lazy Raptor wrote:Could've been worse. Could've been Lieberman!

seems Dean relied too heavily on the angry student/youth vote. Not only did they not show up in numbers worth a shit, they actually went for Kerry! Lesson to be learned: pay no attention to pissed of whining college kids, they don't fucking vote anyway.

Jane Galt has a list of quotes from her office on the Iowa caucus.
On Howard Dean's Speeach:
"Those clips just made him sound like a muppet."
(referencing the acres-long list of places enumerated by Mr Dean where his campaign was going to gloriously triumph)"What does this say? He's angry and he's got an atlas."
On John Edwards:
"Having to listen to him and George Bush compete in a Southern Jes'-folks-a-thon for nine months is my own personal vision of hell."
On John Kerry:
"I believe that his war record can cancel out the fact that John Kerry is from Massachussetts for voters in the south. But I don't believe it can cancel out his personality, which is pure Massachussetts. Outside of large urban areas, Massachussetts=Death."
On Dick Gephardt
"What can you say about Dick Gephardt? Poor bastard got whipped like a rented mule."
On Lieberman (who didn't compete):
"He's gonna get caned in New Hampshire."
Saddest moment from all the speeches:
Tom Harkin telling Dean supporters (I'm paraphrasing): "Iowa has a history of putting out a three candidate ticket. We're on that ticket."

You take one caucaus in Iowa, then extrapolate it into a statement about every college student in America. Congratulations, you're an idiot.

the 18-21 and 21-24 demographics have the lowest voter turnout, BY FAR of any other age group.

so by not knowing the facts, you are indeed the idiot.

The democrats kind of turned it into a 4 on 1 race, so it kinda makes sense that Dean would lose, but I'm surprised it was that bad.Joe wrote:WOW, Dean got spanked. I wasn't expecting it to be that bad.

Actually, College students vote in VERY small numbers:The Kernel wrote:Crackpot, if that data actually broke down college students versus people who didn't go past high school, you might actually have a case.

no, were not talking about graduates. i pointed out that college age adults have consistantly had the lowest voter turnout rates, and if you read the data further you will find that those rates have been steadily decreasing since 1972.The Kernel wrote:Crackpot, if that data actually broke down college students versus people who didn't go past high school, you might actually have a case.

*shrug* I didn't disbelieve what Crackpot was saying, I was just pointing out that if he wanted to make a case, he needed to provide data relevent to the point he was making.Master of Ossus wrote:Actually, College students vote in VERY small numbers:The Kernel wrote:Crackpot, if that data actually broke down college students versus people who didn't go past high school, you might actually have a case.

Crackpot, you are right, but your data doesn't support that. Although it does break the numbers down into age groups, it says nothing about whether they are in college. It could simply be that no person who didn't go to college votes before they are 30 (this isn't true, but it is a valid interpretation of the data) so you needed to provide evidence that it was college students not voting.Col. assertation: college age adults don't voteThe Kernel wrote:Backpedal for telling you that your data didn't support your assertion? proof: statistical data for the past 40 years showing that, indeed, college age adults have the lowest voter turnout.
