The local mass transit light rail system dispenses Sacajewea coins at the ticket machines.

And guys, how can you bring back the $2 bill when it was never discontinued to begin with?

Ours does, too. Whenever I go to the metro, I get to collect about 15 of the things in change for my $20.

And there will go that saying. :)

You can't have Reagan on a bill before Roosevelt. Reagan ain't got shit on Roosevelt.

IIRC it is much harder to put someone on a coin than it is paper money. That being said, there is redundancy there. Lincoln is on the Penny (as well as the $5 bill) and Washington is on the Quarter (as well as the $1) Give him one of those.

Talk about a partisan nightmare waiting to happen. The reason old presidents and framers work for dollar bills is because everybody likes them. Though I think it's a bit ironic that Franklin in on the $100-bill with "In God We Trust" on the back of it.

Quick note: The two dollar bill is still in circulation and you can purchase them (for a markup, ofcourse) from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. They are indeed valid currency. They're not widely used however.

If anything, I think most of the Sacajawea dollar coins ended up in Ecuador. They use US dollars there and damned if they aren't fond of using coins. If I got change, it was more golden coins weighing down my pocket.

More on topic: what is it with the Reagan wankers and wanting to stick his face and name on everything? Alright, they got the airport. Fine. They get the largest government building in Washington. Fine. But wanting his head on Mt. Rushmore? Replacing someone's face with his on money? It's just getting silly. Don't these people have better things to waste their time on rather than sticking Reagan everywhere they can?

Yes. I did mean FDR, sorry.

I think the Dime is kind of Shitty. Its small, hard to see soemtimes. IT is as if they put some of the best presidents on the lowest denominations.

They put the one who was the most popular with the people on the money that the average person sees the most. That's perfectly intelligent by my standards.

Plus, of course, when FDR was Prez, a dime probably be worth about what? A dollar now, in terms of buying power?

To be fair, I see dimes a lot more than I see $10 bills. $20, $5, and $1 are pretty common, but $10 just isn't as widely seen... by me, at least.

I've heard that at least some banks carry them as well.

The stamp machines at the Post Office usualy have dollar coins in them for change.

I think the big thing holding back the dollar coins is that most vending machines won't properly recognize them and no one seems to be in a hurry to spend the money to update vending machines just so they'll accept a coin that might not be used by many people anyway.

I'm not against Reagan or anything, but I don't think they should redo the currency to add him. I'm fuckin tired of them redesigning and reprinting all these bills. They just revamped the $20 like four or five years ago and now they're redoing it with color.

Off topic, I also hate the damned dollar coins.

I think part of the reason FDR is on the dime is because he founded the March of Dimes.

Christ, what's wrong with FDR being on the dime? He's in good company; Lincoln, Washington, and Jefferson are all on the lowest denominations.

I have no problem with putting Reagan on something personally, if JFK and Ulysses Grant get put on currency and we can issue different colored bills there's no reason Reagan shouldn't get his glory.

Do you guys have anyone other than dead presidents on your notes, sorry, bills? Just curious since, for example, the £10 note has Darwin on it and the old £5 had Stephenson on. All of them have the ER on too, naturally.

Alexander Hamilton was never President, and he's on the $10. He was the first Secretary of the Treasury.
