I checked the Interfax newsagency, and they did report about the finding. Apparently, the local authority supports the story. While I think it's very, very, very unlikely to be a 'device of extra-terrestial origin' it's going to be interesting to learn about the analysis later. It could be an important discovery (albeit not about aliens).
