I'm pretty sure the candidates would have had a lot of fun with that had it been revealed earlier.

I'm fairly certain I am descended from Neapolitan peasants, with traces of Germano-Scandinavian serfs.

George W. Bush is 32 generations remoed from the man who butchered our ancestors like cattle and ate hs dinner among the mass wooden spikes he impaled his ictims upon. John Kerry is 34 generations removed. Who do you want to run this country?

Technically, Alyrium, that should be "Turks for Kerry", as Vlad the Impaler is a Romanian national hero.

That's pretty cool.

As for my own relations. I'm related to John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed). And it's possible that I am related to Aaron Burr.

Why is this relation to Dracula not being exposed at a higher level? I bet this would scare the shit out of fundy Bushites. :)
Are you crazy Vlad Dracul III was strong on defense of Wallcallia, and did what he did because he was working for GOD to end the satanic influence of those Turks.

or at least that's the present day Spin on it.

You seem to forget that Vlad Dracula waged wars of religion against the heathen islamic turks in what is today central Romania. Vlad Dracula's campiagns in Transylvania help preserve Christianity (at least Orthodox Christianity) in Romania.

I'm a great-grand-nephew (IIRC) of Jacob "Gentleman Jake" Daubert on my mother's side, who was a baseball player for the Brooklyn Robins and Cincinatti Reds. He was the first national MVP from Brooklyn, and was the team captain of the Reds when they won the Black Sox World Series. He still holds three records in MLB, and was a founder of the players' union. Some sports writers consider him the best baseball player not in the Hall of Fame, although his glove and bat are in the Hall, donated by my grandfather just before his death.

I'm also a Weir by my mother's side; the name is the Anglicized form of Mac an Mhaoir, which was the family that were hereditary custodians of the Book of Armagh. The Book is known to the Catholic Church as the Liber Ardmachanus (also Armachanus). It is also known as the Canon of Patrick, and appears to have been written by Ferdomnach of Armagh in roughly 807 or 808. It appears to be a transcript of older documents, and is the oldest existing source for St. Patrick. The two stories are by Muirchu Maccu Machteni, writing on behest of Bishop Aed of Sletty, and Tirechan, writing for Bishop Ultan of Ardbraccan. Both wrote in the mid seventh century. It includes the Liber Angueli, in which Armagh is granted to Patrick by an angel, the Eusebian canons, the letter of Jerome to Damascus, the epistles of Paul with preface by Pelagius, the epistles of James, Peter, Jude, and John, the Apocalypse of John, and the four canonical Gospels. At the bottom of one page is an inscription that dates to ~1002, dated by the scribes comment that he wrote in the presence of King Brian Borumha. The steward of the book (maor) was a position that granted much authority, as 8 towns were under the grant given in the Liber Angueli. Over time, the herediatry position of maor became a clan unto themselves, the mac maor. This became the Mac an Mhaoir, which has been anglicized as Moyre, Moyer, and Weir. The book itself is the oldest complete document in Irish that is known to exist, and as such is beyond valuation for its literary and linguistic significance. It somehow passed from the Mac an Mhaoir to the Brownlows of Lurgan in 1853, and is now kept by Trinity College.

Other than that, I actually know relatively little about my family. I do have an ancestor named Mary Magdalene  , and know I am Irish, Scottish, German, English, and Turkish.

There may also be some Russian, French, or...ummm...whatever the proper name is for people from the Netherlands  . It all depends on which family legend about a particular ancestor is true. One branch claims he was German, another claims he was Russian. He claimed he was French, but neither of his names are French, and it was during WWI. The ship his ancestor came over on sailed from Rotterdam, so we've basically thrown our hands up, because we've got no real way of knowing for sure.

My great-grandfather was the head gardener to Government House in Perth until the 1970s. Did a good job, too.

Ok, maybe it's not *that* interesting, but it's the best I've got. :)
