Not willing to be outdone in the 'we'll fight to the death for our right to be stupid' category, an Oklahoma state senator has proposed to fight the state's new ban on cock fighting by equipping the roosters with little helmets and boxing gloves, since if it's okay for humans to fight that way, it *must* be okay for chickens .....

You think I made that up ...

Maybe they can equip foxes with little flak jackets .....

Mrs. Spade didn't raise any children dippy enough to
make guesses in front of a district attorney,
an assistant district attorney, and a stenographer

A lot of European states also allow gay marriage and the like whilst the US doesn't.
On the issue of guns, they aren't banned because we don't like them they are banned because we don't want people killing each other with them (although I don't wish to get into whether that is effective or not).
And I like how glided over the fact that dogs are more intelligent animals than foxes.
How much more intelligent?
And what about cock fighting? Are chickens far more intelligent than foxes?
I'd like to ask you if dogs are subjected to horrifying medical experiments in the U.K. like elsewhere.
First animal testing does produce a benefit to society and secondly Britain has rather strict laws on animal testing compared to most other nations (and there are calls to make them even more strict) .

These large formal fox hunts in the UK do not use guns, ever. The fox either dies of exertion or is torn to bits by packs of specially-bred hunting dogs (which are usually 'retired', Blade Runner-style after three years). Do not think that this is a gun control issue, because it is not. It is about getting your kicks from watching a living thing being torn apart.

Hell, they even paint the creature's blood on any neophyte hunter's face to show that they have been 'bloodied' with their first kill. It is a real pagan bloodbath to celebrate one's entry to adulthood with the blood of a sacrifice.

Their usual reasoning is quite flawed. They tend to bring up the quite fallacious point that without hunting measures, foxes will breed to amazing numbers like that virtual ecology program with the foxes and rabbits and eliminate all farm life in no time at all. I guess they haven't noticed that this doesn't occur anywhere in the world and that natural factors limit such phenomenas such as predator-prey relationships.

They also spout that it's a tradition, part of English heritage that shouldn't be scrapped anymore than the Queen and monarch. They'd have a point if such an institution was loved by the masses (it is not) and had any real benefits like the monarch which is a tourism goldmine. Wrong again.

If that fails, they pull out the class discrimination card. Hey, arseholes, the gov't banned cock fighting, pitbull fighting and numerous other cruel and unusual sports often hosted by the working class long before your poncy "sport" was even considered for the chop. Heck, the "sport" of allowing trained dogs to chase rabbits and hares and bet on who wins was being looked into long before foxhunting, so spin on it.

There are probably more "arguments" they have which are all needlessly stupid or petty such as the farm community will rise against the city people (despite plenty of country folk, myself included, opposing such hunts) and other such ridiculous things like calling the action fascism in action.
