Huh, I heard that they taught that was before the Fall, not the Flood. Go figure.
Well, obviously there are always conflicting views even amongst sects, but it seems there was a time where God commanded meat would be allowed after the Flood, hence that's where they say it all starts.
And obviously T Rex was a herbivore with those great big chompers, right?

When in doubt, use the "stick your fingers in your ears and repeat your faith" tactic.
Incidentally, if you were to point out to them this is what they were doing, they would point to someone's belief in evolution being the same. Since evolution doesn't explain everything perfectly, then evolution is no better than the flood myth. Of course we've all seen this tactic before on this site about a hundred thousand times, so no news there.
Ow.
When I was a kid and was trying desperately to believe in what I was supposed to believe in, I often times had to try and skip over stories like the Flood and Creation (not to mention all of the OT) in order to try and not have so many questions. Questions that challenged the interpretations already set were beat down (moreso in my grandparents' generation than my parents'), but were still never satisfying answers. I've had the fundie experience myself, so I know very well the tactics one uses to shield themselves from reason. I wish I could say that if confronted with the evidence against a global flood that my family would change their views or at least question them. Sadly, that hasn't happened yet.
