I sometimes think that Rebecca had one of those fast metabolisms, but when I actually watch what she eats, she just doesn't eat that much food. She ate a lot more and packed on 60 pounds during the 9 months she was pregnant with Matthew, and then lost it all just as fast.

And another thing: Don't envy people like Zod and Justforfun. In fact, I pity them and wouldn't trade metabolisms with them for the world. While they may be able to eat all they want without getting fat, they pay a heavy price in free radical production. Their metabolisms are SO fast, they oxidize their very DNA, which accelerates the onset of aging. To these folks, I can only advise looking for ways to slow their metabolisms down, and to get some antioxidants.
Is this really true? I find this a little dubious...in my own case, I actually age very SLOW. I was a late bloomer for puberty, I'm almost 38 and I don't have a grey hair yet, and I look much younger then my age. On top of this, my heart is in amazing shape. I had a full scan done and stress tests performed. Maybe I'm just genetically lucky in that regard as well.

I also do take a fair amount of antioxidants anyhow though. I've always been a proponent of supplements, and regularly take Vitamin C, E, A, etc as well as milk thistle, alpha-lipoic acid.
You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

I figured the best way to stave off obesity was to get big muscles that require more energy to just stay as they are. I think it's helped stabilize my weight though I need to get more excersize now, I've gotten fatter and I hate it. Probably those fucking chips that I am addicted to. I need to stop cold turkey.

And I don't think it gets easier. I've been working out for 3 years or more and I still hate it, cardio is the most hatefull, boring type of excersize I know, weightlifting is easier, mentally speaking.

Some people learn to enjoy exercise. I am not one of those people. I've been keeping myself in shape for some time now and, apart from hiking, I still fucking hate it.

Eating drastically less food has gotten easier though. I think it's because the stomach shrinks in response to the sharply decreased volume of food it's processing. Look at the people who get gastric bypass operations (BTW I am NOT advocating that); they never get hungry.

@Justforfun000: I recommend reading some of the Calorie Restriction Society's website. I'm on a calorie-restricted diet myself (which is not to be confused with anorexia, as there is no malnutrition) and although it's kept my weight where I want it, that's not the primary reason I'm using the diet. It's the most promising method of radical life-extension I've seen yet. Note that calorie restriction has NOT been proven to work in humans, but it has worked for every other animal tested with the exception of flies (don't ask. I don't know). Anyway, it's all predicated on the correlation between cellular respiration and DNA damage which, in turn, is believed to be one of the primary factors in the onset of senescence.
