In general Sanchez I agree with your overall point, if that wasn't clear. I just get annoying by the convention coverage is all. Watch it on C-SPAN or PBS if you want to actually see it at all. The pundits literally add nothing of worth to the conversation.
How many Obama commercials are you seeing criticizing McCain? How many Democrats are criticizing McCain on the political talkshows? How much effort is being put into contrasting McCain and Obama's positions (instead of saying that Obama is "just like everyone else!")?

There are lots of people who don't see any difference between Obama and McCain, or who will vote McCain instead of Obama because Obama is being painted as "too extreme" or a "tax and spend liberal" or because "McCain is a war hero." These idiots aren't going to pull their own heads out of their collective asses and pay attention; Obama's campaign is going to have to throw the policy differences between Obama and McCain right in their faces, and so far he hasn't done it. Yesterday, Biden and Clinton did it for the first time in a public arena.

On the point we agree entirely. Come the end of the convention I hope to see more poignant ads, as well as a media blitz to counter the well-oiled Republican surrogate attack machine. However it is difficult when the pundits and anchors allow the Republican guests to frame the debate...

I just started watching the convention on CNN. I've never watched one of these before, so it's kind of exciting.

I think the set is a little tacky. It's vaguely Greek, but unless Obama wears a toga it's going to be pretty lame.

All in all, it's like a session at one of those modern consumer churches.

what i don't get are people breaking down to tears. Maybe i'm jaded, but thats idiotic. Apart from some old school black Americans who lived through Jim Crow laws long enough to realize the possibility of a black President.

Also, Anyone else notice Biden call the Russians to the mat last night?

And Obama is on the stage at Invesco.

"The failure to respond (to the economic downturn) is the direct result of the broken politics of Washington, and the failed policies of George W. Bush".

First blow.

Second blow!

He's really slugging away. Just mentioned McCain's plan to privatise Social Security.

"It's not that John McCain doesn't care, it's that he doesn't get it."

On McCain's Trickle-Down Mk. II:

"In Washington, they call this the "ownership society", but what that really means is "you're on your own".

"It's time for them to own their failure."

The crowd at Invesco is going wild. He's just tied into King's "I Have A Dream" speech, spoken 45 years ago today. Obama's just firing on all cyllinders tonight.

Thirty five minute speech and Obama laid out a clear vision of his programme, the stark differences between himself and McCain, attacked at points of weakness, and in addition reached for a lofty vision of everything the country was in its greatest moments and what it still can be.

That's the best political speech I've heard in a long time.

I'm listening on radio. Wish I could see the lights and the fireworks.

Seventy five thousand people are on their feet and cheering their lungs out as if they've just watched the Broncos win the Super Bowl.

Let's see the Gimp top this.

That was amazing. My God, but I wish I could have been there, in that stadium. There are, of course, a few points I disagree with, but it was nonetheless an electrifying speech.

By the way, what is the orchestral song that is playing right now?

Most of the night, MSNBC has been reporting the difficulty that McCain is having getting 10,000 people in Daton Ohio, resorting to giving away free tickets. It's a stark contrast, but then I guess that's just because he's a celebrity.
