Oh please, McCain just claimed that he knew that the Surge would be as effective as it has been. What BS.

Ouch, Obama just made fun of McCain for the "Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran" incident.

He hit him about the "bomb bomb Iran" song. I'm glad about that.

He knows how hard it is for an army and a military to come home to defeat. McCain was in the military? Who knew?

I love how Obama counter McCain's folksy bracelet story with one of his own.

So that took about an hour? That's pretty good considering he's been wanking off about it since the start of this election.

McCain just had to drag out the "Stab in the Back," myth, didn't he?

I think McCain just had a senior moment with regards to Obama never visiting Afghanistan.

I'm sick and tired of this ridiculous "go visit Afghanistan" or "didn't visit Iraq for 900 days" bullshit. It should be obvious to everyone that visiting a country where you spend your whole time under heavy armed guard will not give you a good, unbiased idea of how conditions are on the ground.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

It's pretty much what he's saying. That he's not the "best liked" guy, it goes with his maverick schtick I guess.
I understood Miss Congeniality to mean 2nd place, or in his example 2nd favorite, which doesn't seem to make sense.
I believe Miss Congeniality isn't really any place (like 2nd, 3rd, etc). It's like a special award to the nicest most pleasant girl.

And the League of Democracies sounds like some bad superhero movie.

It's sounding to me like they're going around-and-around saying much the same thing vis-a-vis Iran -- they'll both let others do the footwork first, before sitting down with the top leadership.

Obama is certainly winning this debate; I was extremely pleased to hear him spell out economic policies, and he is far more impressive on that count than is McCain.

Unfortunately, Obama is wrongly chasing the Osama bin Laden boogey-man; it would be a massive propaganda victory, but wouldn't successful deal with the point brought out by McCain in his strongest rebuff: the continuing problem of an unstable Iraq, regardless of the original set of decisions that brought us in.

I loved how he handled the "I got this bracelet from a greaving mother who told me..." attack.

"Hey John, I've got a bracelet too. The mother I met said 'please don't let some other mother go through what I am'".
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

It's western russophobia, it can't be avoided with any politician.

I thought Obama is wise enough to see through those phobia. Sigh.
