I'd venture that Bluewolf was speaking off of a gut-level adherence the ancient elementary school mantra, "Boys do not hit girls".

Men are somehow almost expected to be invovled in violence (how many nameless female guards are gunned down in action movies?), but 'women and children' are deemed to be vulnerable pacifists unless they're screwed up psychopaths like Xena Onatopp or endowed with a magical destiny like Buffy.

Stats based on self-reporting of abuse are fraught with many problems; you should know that.
Which still doesn't answer the prior objection that we are talking about abuse cases wherein by definition the abusing party has more power. Moreover I don't think you would claim that it is okay to have a double standard in cases of spousal murder.
Maybe you have some kind of reading comprehension problem, but I was attacking the idea that all double standards are necessarily wrong. I never said that every double standard is good, so please dispense with your bullshit strawman.

Find one piece of that fucking sentence where I made any such acusation as you claim I did. I made TWO points so how you found a third I'm not sure but let me break it down:

1) In cases of abuse the abuser, by definition, has more power so the inequality you tried to claim doesn't exist on a case by case basis

2) I made the point that you wouldn't condone the idea of a double standard in cases of spousal murder.

Somehow you missed the logical extension of point number 2 which, really, is a reiteration of point number one. The person who commits violence has unequal power, gender isn't the determinant action is. Mike I thought you better than to strawman someone by claiming they have presented a strawman.
