I did. And? Since when inter-party struggle gives opposition to completely destroy government elected just beforehand, to replace it with opaque web of your own cronies multiplying bureaucracy, making overseeing whole of city far more difficult and less efficient, giving right wing opportunities for more criminal 'privatizations', 'deprioritizations' and 'deregulations' solely to pad their own pockets, against electorate's will?

She literally claimed that Germany would immediately become Nazi again if allowed to reunify.
Was she serious about that? I though that was just the usual "Nazis!" used to push through own interest. And with the british tabloid press at home Thatcher had to more extreme than the other governments.
Yes, she was serious about that. She vehemently opposed reunification and had Bush not brought her in line, she might as well have scuttled it.

Interest or not, Germans feel their country has more things for people to associate with them than the Nazis. They get offended, that is. It would be like the southern US and their thing with slavery, only with the Germans not actually being pricks and saying the Holocaust was just a matter of conflicting geostrategic interests.

So, estimates of the cost of her funeral are up to 10 million, and members of the Tory party are insisting that the country can afford it. A far cry from the austerity shit they've been making everyone else chew on.

Her funeral arrangements should go to the lowest bidder, it's what she would have wanted...

There have been people willing to deal with it for free for years now....particularly before she was dead.

I think it was Frankie Boyle who suggested just giving everyone in Scotland a shovel; they'd dig a hole so deep that Satan could take direct delivery.

Man, I never saw so many "She's dead, let's party" videos on youtube. It is practically overflowing with those things.

One of the first comments I saw on twitter was along the lines of "Watch Thatcher's funeral for the protests and the violent police response to them, the truest memorial she could ever have."

I heard the BBC say they will consider whether or not to play a certain song from The Wizard Of Oz on Radio 1's chart show, should it actually be at number one.

There is something almost compelling about the news coverage at the moment - just to see how hard it is possible to scrape the barrell in order to find a new angle.

BBC London are currently leading this one for me with an interview with the estate agent who showed her round the Dulwich home she moved into after leaving 10 Downing Street.

Somebody brought a copy of Tuesday's Daily Telegraph into work - all other news stories were fitted on to just 4 pages with the whole of the rest of the paper being taken up by Thatcher stuff. They also have a 68, yes sixty-eight, page commemorative magazine coming out on Saturday.

This is a royal death in all but name. Roll on the funeral - that should be fun :|

Funeral's on the 17th if anyone's thinking of holding a party or commemorative riot or something.

The police are going to be out in force around London come that day. They had the Met commander talking about it and how, as with the Royal wedding last year, they may preemptively arrest troublemakers. Oh, and you're all obligated to inform them of any protest activity.

They can just preemptively arrest people? Using what criteria?

Or, to use more formal language, to prevent a breach of the peace. If they've got intelligence that there's trouble brewing (such as an invitation on an internet forum to a "commemorative riot") they can take steps to prevent that trouble.

If the Met use my comment as an excuse to nick someone I'm suing them for libel. (In the hopefully unlikely event that they're reading this, don't say I didn't warn you!)

Whatever your opinion of her, it's certainly going to be a memorable funeral.
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.
