A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Always relevant when bashing Snyder's godawful decisions, and him in general:

And this one, which the previous article references, is hilarious for a read:

Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

I'm fairly sure the Atlanta Braves got rid of the American Indian face motif. They just go with the tomahawk thing now.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

The Blackhawks changed their logo, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:There's the Chicago Blackhawks
The Indians changed their logo, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:Cleveland Indians (the team is also called the Tribe)
The Braves changed their logo and mascot, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:And the Atlanta Braves
Hm, almost like there's a pattern there.
The Redskins get the most attention because "redskin" is an ethnic slur in a way that "indians" is not, and because the team's owner has resisted the most vociferously.

Except that as of right now you can go to Cleveland's official MLB website and see recent photos of players wearing hats with Wahoo on them:Terralthra wrote:The Indians changed their logo, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.
And this is a screen grab from their online store that I took a few minutes ago:
They are still using the logo. Maybe not as prominently, but they are still wearing it as part of the uniform and making money off of it.

Nope, still there as their primary logo. What you are thinking of is their alternate logo.Terralthra wrote:The Blackhawks changed their logo, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:There's the Chicago Blackhawks
I've checked the MLB site and it is still being used. You can see it on their caps and jersey sleeves. The big "C" is their primary logo as of this yeah but the head is still used but as an alternate.Terralthra wrote:The Indians changed their logo, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:Cleveland Indians (the team is also called the Tribe)
This one I stand corrected.Terralthra wrote:The Braves changed their logo and mascot, widely seen as a response to Native American protest.Enigma wrote:And the Atlanta Braves
That may be true but for the Cleveland Indians... that face says what words don't.Terralthra wrote:Hm, almost like there's a pattern there.

I agree, Chief Wahoo is ridiculous, which is why I'm glad they're starting to phase that logo out. And people aren't ignoring it and focusing entirely on the Redskins. Wahoo gets protests as well, as do many other professional, amateur, and school teams.Enigma wrote:That may be true but for the Cleveland Indians... that face says what words don't.
