Sweet mythical Jesus... Trying to ban homosexuality... ets see what this violates children...

Well for one we have the 14th ammendment which states that all people born in the US or naturaized. And have all the same rights and freedoms that any other citizen has, and must be treated EQUALLY... Oh, wait... wouldnt banning omosexuality be treating them unequally.... yes, yes it would.

Officials to clarify motion on banning gays from living in Rhea Co.

March 18, 2004

DAYTON (AP) -- Rhea County Commissioners will hold a special meeting Thursday to retreat from their vote two days earlier to find a way to ban homosexuals.

Rhea County attorney Gary Fritts says the commission's 8-0 vote Tuesday started a "wildfire" of reaction. He says it's a misunderstanding. [ vote to ban sodomy ]

Despite talk about changing state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature, Fritts says the commission vote was intended to support Tennessee's ban on same-sex marriages.

The special meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

The motion voted on Tuesday was made by Commissioner J.C. Fugate.

On Wednesday, County Commission Chairman Terry Broyles said commissioners wanted a "clarification" of the motion. Broyles said he understood the motion to be about gay marriage, not banning gays from the county.

Rhea County is about 30 miles north of Chattanooga.

It holds an annual festival commemorating the 1925 trial that convicted John Scopes on charges of teaching evolution. The conviction was overturned by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

The trial later became the subject of the play and movie, "Inherit the Wind."

Oh well I guess that makes it alright now!

It's like saying; we aren't trying to ban muslims/jews/hindus/whatever, we just don't think they should be allowed to marry like us christians!

Mind you, I wasn't supporting them, just pointing out that they are backpedalling, however small a step it might be.

They are? The blurb said it was an international tourist site. I have no idea why they bothered to mention it.

I know that ... I should have specifically said; quoting the article, instead. Don't worry man, wasn't aiming it at you.

Nevermind. They do celebrate the Scopes trial. What a bunch of ignorant rednecks.
