You know, fuck it. Good. Cultural sensitivety only goes so far. Not a great PR move but how long are you going to let your self be picked apart and not fire back.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Well, the BBC is just reporting a strike on the mosque where the troops were dismembered, so it seems cultural sensistivity has just run out.

Appearently, reports of kidnapped servicemen have been going on all night. Now it has been updated to kidnapped journalists.

No real article on it yet but its on the front page of Fox News and heard it on the local radio (CBS affiliate).

Whether the American attack on the mosque was justified or not, the problem is that this will serve to piss off a whole lot of muslims and further escalate the current conflict.

Fuck 'em, you run into a church and fire on some cops outside they have every damn right to fire back at you. If you start using said church as say a platform for RPG's and mortars and heavier weapons are required to dislodge you then so be it. It might cause a blow to the image of the US but damn it, it had to be done.

As sucky as this sounds, there has to be a certain amount of restraint when you're fighting in Iraq or any muslim country. You have to be careful not to touch off an event that will send tensions soaring higher than they already are. By striking at a mosque you're playing right into the hands of those who are painting the US as modern crusaders running amok in Muslim lands.

And frankly, Bush took us in knowing full well the implications involved so he has to play by those ground rules or he has to admit that he had no fucking clue what he was doing when he brought us in in the first place. He either brought into the fantasy world that the Iraqis would welcome us with open arms and kiss our feet or he was clueless as to what to expect if he doesn;t think we need to tread extra cautiously around muslim holy sites.

You could touch off an incident that would have muslims swarming from all over the mideast to come get a piece of us. If you don't want to play by those rules then we should never have gone in in the first place.
Wherever you go, there you are.

It might (probably not but...) might serve as a warning. If we fuck up this mosque and give due warning that mosques are off limits if they aren't shooting at us, do you think some of the muslems will move to stop them from being used as firebases?

Obviously alot will be pissed off at it but if faced between using a mosque for the 'great cause' or having them wasted when they are used for such, do you think some of the Muslims would hesitate?

Well lets see, those fuckers are whacked out insane. They'll do anything and endanger anything to kill Americans. For some reason I don't think that anything like this will stop them. And since for the last 2+ decades the Iraqi people have been bred to be bullied and controlled I'm thinking this will continue to happen.

While some muslims might see it as such and some might even be outraged that mosques are used in such a manner, I doubt that the radicals actualy doing the fighting will give a damn. Hell, knowing that every mosque destroyed by the Americans will help them enlist new recruits across the middle-east, they might even start using mosques as bases of operation just so that they could attract fire from the U.S. Military.

If they were firing on US positions from within that, I'd say they were in their right to take out that mosque.

These scum have to learn that they can't evade US troops by simply running
into a Mosque to hide. If you run into a mosque lugging a RPG and use
said Mosque as a base of fire...well, expect some 120MM tank fire to come
your way.

The Boers? I thought the British were fighting the Bantu peoples, not the Dutch immigrants. Or was it both?

First the 120 dead Americans soldiers and now this, would it really be such an inconvenience to check a storie a bit more carefully before printing wild rumours?

Of course not, but we weren't conducting a religious crusade over in Germany, either. We're trying to build a democracy in Iraq, and that won't happen if we just shit all over their religion, much as I hate to say it.

Both. The Boers (not paragons of virtue in their own right) fought several wars with the British.
