The CIA has collaborated with a number of drug-trafficking groups. But go ahead and explain what problems within the black community you think are the fault of black people, or for that matter where, apart from the government providing drugs, the speech is exaggerated to the point of falsehood. "Collaboration" does not mean actually peddling drugs and many of them were operations where CIA agents operated as double agents to penetrate drug rings and whatnot.

Much of black poverty is caused by for example the lack of stable families and the lack of importance many families place in education. In addition the US government has tried to do much for blacks (and other minorities in general)-Civil Rights Acts, desegregation, and Great Society programs for a start.

Read the fucking article you slacker. It specifically mentions cases where the CIA stopped the DEA from acting against drug traffickers, gave money to traffickers, and generally assisted in the importation of drugs to the United States. They did not personally order field agents to heft sacks of blow into vans or swallow condoms full of coke and get on an airplane, but they certainly knew that the coke would go into the USA and they didn't give a rat's ass about that.

So your entire response to that is that civil rights programs, which black communities and black leaders fought and gave their goddamn lives for (while Chocula smarms about how that was all in the past and we should put it behind us) make up for all the other things the US government has done to treat its minorities shittily. Meanwhile, black families in inner cities tend to have stability problems. There tends to be a rejection of traditional education in those same areas. Where did this come from? Why did this happen? Well, your response is apparently that black families chose this, as I asked specifically what problems you believed to be the fault of black people. Or maybe your reading comprehension is at about a fourth grade level.

No. Reread my posts all the way through, and the ones that they are addressing, you fucking idiot. My contention is that Jeremiah Wright saying that the US government provides drugs to the inner cities does not come out of nowhere, and instead is a reaction to the CIA helping drugs enter the US because it was "vital to our national interest". Therefore, dismissing it outright is dangerous. But thank you for somehow distorting my words to make them less reasonable. If you weren't so obviously brain-dead I'd think it a clever trick, but I know that it's just a consequence of the oxygen deprivation.

Well Bakustra, by that same logic, drug use is pretty widespread in America, including places where people have lots o' money. Granting your contention that the CIA funnelled drugs to the US to raise an off-books slush fund, a contention I can't really argue, they made drugs available to more than just inner-city black folk. Wright's pointing that out is just another indication that he's wearing his own racial blinders.

Thinking about some more, I don't really care for Perry's policies (or basically any of the GOP contenders', for that matter) but I just thought that this incident would simply be enough to end Perry's chances of success. I suppose this assumption was based on spite towards the Republithugs (may as well take at least one of them out of the race, you know) rather than whether or not Perry was really a racist.

No, Flagg, he leases a hunting ground that USED to be named niggerhead. Its now called "North Camp Pasture". According to Perry the name was painted over in 1983, when his father acquired the lease on the property.

The Daily Show did a great sendup of the stupidity of this issue, and managed to point out that there's at least 100 geographic locations in the US, from Nigger Lake in New York to Nigger Mining District in Washington State, that have 'Nigger' in the title.

Where's the line? If Perry had leased the property only once, and then never gone back would that make him racist? Two times if he felt really bad? Wallace Jefferson, the first black chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court, said the hunting ranch name controversy is "much ado about nothing" and argued the implication that Rick Perry is insensitive to matters of race is flatly wrong. Jefferson, who was appointed to the post by Perry, and whose great-great-great-grandfather was a slave owned by a Waco district judge, said the reality is quite the opposite: Perry "appreciates the role diversity plays in our state and nation."

Jefferson said he can recall his first conversation with Perry, in 2001, like it was yesterday. They talked about how Jefferson's father and Perry had both been Air Force officers. Jefferson said Perry shared his view that in all circumstances, merit mattered, not race.

The biggest beating he’s taken on the campaign trail so far? His unwavering support for granting in-state tuition to the children of illegal immigrants in Texas.

“Texans need to see that no matter where you come from, the color of your skin or the sound of your last name, that if you are willing to work hard and play by the rules you can become anything you want in this state,” Perry said in a 2010 interview with The Dallas Examiner.

But Sunday’s Washington Post article suggesting the Perry family didn’t go far enough to rid the moniker “Niggerhead” from the West Texas hunting land has cast a pall on his presidential bid — and provided ammunition for his opponents, including African-American businessman Herman Cain, who recently won the Florida GOP straw poll. On Sunday, in response to the Post story, Cain called Perry “insensitive” to African-Americans.

From what I've read, his father was the original leaseholder in the family, but when it became a 'family retreat' at some point ownership was transferred to Perry. This goes along with claims that the name was changed 'soon' after, but if its a place they only visit once every few years (which is how it has been represented), 'soon' could easily be half a decade.

In the case of Herman Cain, when Perry gave his explanation, Cain's response was "Okay, good enough. Let's talk about something else."

This in't a case of "some black guy" it's "several black guy who are Perry's direct political opponents and would profit from his demise" as well as "a supreme court justice." And when people like the Former Democractic speaker of the house Glib Lewis aren't taking the chance to sabotage Perry's campaign, there's a reason for it. And it isn't because they don't want to do so.

Former House Speaker Gib Lewis, a Democrat, said it was not uncommon for geographical features to carry racially offensive names as a vestige of the post-Civil War South, but those references have largely been eliminated over the years.

Lewis said in his dealings with Perry as a legislator and a state elected official, he’s never heard the governor express racial intolerance.

“It’s a cheap shot,” Lewis said. “I’ve known Rick ever since he came to the Legislature. I’ve been around him and I’ve never heard him say anything — and trust me, I’ve heard a lot of people say a lot of racist things.”

Royce West is not a political yes man for Perry by any account.

“Is Governor Perry a racist? Absolutely not,” West said. But have his policies hurt black Texans? “That’s the reality,” the senator said.

There are plenty of legitimate sources of criticism for Perry (there's a short laundry list of stupid shit he's done in the link below). This sign just isn't one of them.
