He was absolutely fine yesterday and he was found dead this morning.
Dr. Pepperberg will take the weekend to mourn his death.

I did a project on Alex back in high school, and have been a fan of him and Dr. Pepperberg ever since; one of the great studies of nonhuman minds has been ended far too early.

Birds are frustrating. For creatures that have lifespans comparable to human beings (African Grays are known to live into their 70's) they have a disturbing tendency to die before old age.
