Tonight's Presidential address: The discussion thread

In approximately three hours from the time of this posting, President Bush is going to address the country regarding General Petraeus' recent testimony to Congress and future plans for the war in Iraq. I'm creating this thread for discussion of the address as it happens.

If you for some reason can't get a television or radio station that's carrying the address, my local NPR station is, and has live streaming audio of their broadcast. The audio link is here.

It'd be so nice if I didn't know exactly the song and dance: We're making progress, we're turning a corner, we'll be bringing back troops based on the 'situation on the ground', and not the fact we've had these troops planned to be rotated back home since the Surge began.

Well, as expected he's talking about Anbar province. Couldn't help but notice that he mentioned that the terrorists seek to attack us at home in the introduction, though.

I'm entirely sure Al Qeada do want to attack people in the West. Can't help but notice most of those are in Afghanistan and Pakistan, though.

Really, I'm more interested in the Democratic response that's to follow. It'll be interesting to see what the Congressional leadership says to this.

My gulf trip is currently scheduled as 7months+. We know when we leave, but no return date has been planned yet.

I also know when my unit is rotating over again as well as at least two other USMCR units which will be getting activated. This makes rotation three for my guys (I will be off contract when it happens) and three and four for the other units.

Fuck if I know. I don't even like to watch people doing parodies and making fun of him anymore, either. Just looking at the fucker makes me sick. He's become a non-entity to me. I guess some people still think he deserves to be 'heard out' or something.
