I couldn't find an article, but I heard on the radio and on my news ticker that Britney had some sort of 3-hour standoff with the police about her kids last night, and then she was wheeled away in a gurney.

Now according to some folks she's on a 72 hour psychiatric hold. Has she flipped her wig?

Britney Spears is merely acting like the trailer-trash that she is. Trailer-trash do things like that: drinking while pregnant, running off to "party" while trying to dump the kids off on someone else, getting into altercations with the police, etc. It's their way of life.

What you're seeing is the soccer-mom world being shocked at the trailer-trash world.

I take my kids to soccer games and swimming lessons, Britney Spears gets drunk and uses her kids as human shields against the police. It's the way of our different worlds.

I sympathize with her on some levels because some of the shit she has on her plate isn't exactly easy to deal with. I think she's crazy for the shit she has done for the past year and not being smart enough to lay low. At the rate she's going I wouldn't be suprised if she died by the end of the year.

Yes, I had forgotten about that. Either one is a good candidate, considering she married Federline nine months later.

I have very little sympathy whatsoever. Almost all of the shit on her plate was her doing, and rather than try to fix anything she instead decides to whine about how bad she has it and make everything worse.

I really hope she doesn't die. There are reasons for that even aside from the fact that I'm against death unless absolutely necessary.

If she dies soon, any useful lesson that any of her followers could get out of this would be lost. They'd quickly gloss over the mountain of negative associated with her and make her into a 'martyr' on the level of Cobain.

I'd much prefer her to live a long life, going from one idiotic episode to another, embarrassing herself and proving herself more of a trailer-trash idiot more and more each time. At least in that scenario more people are likely to go, "You know, perhaps she's not someone I should look up to."

Ideally she'd actually learn something from this and actually attempt to be a worthwhile person, but I think that's setting the bar a little too high.

Maybe you should have to earn a licence to have children. It shouldn't be a terribly difficult thing to pass either, so if you don't earn it you damn well know you deserve it.

Well, if there was some hypothetical law preventing people from having children, Spears would surely be a prime candidate. From what little I've seen of her parenting in the "news," she seems utterly unsuitable to be a parent.

Hard to be sympathetic to someone who could just hang it up and retire, she's financially secure enough to get herself together go to school and contribute to society. She doesn't need publicity she doesn't need to be an "entertainer" anymore. Most people would be content with 10s of millions and do something useful or at least stop doing things that are harmful to others and family. If she wants to stay in the business she could become a producer but that takes some level of intelligence.
