"He was groaning in pain," she said. "Every time he tries to go to sleep he wakes up every three or four seconds yelling, 'I’m on fire! I’m on fire!'"

"It is a random attack," she said. "He told me that he didn’t know (his attackers). He was asking me, 'Why me?' What kind of answer can I give him?"

The four male suspects are described as two Caucasian, one East Indian and one Asian.
The Asian male was wearing a black North Face puffy jacket and white track pants. Two of the other males were wearing black hoodies.

Thats pretty fucking horrible thing to do someone, I doubt this kids life is ever going to be okay again. He's likely going to suffer horrible scarring.

From the description, it sounds like he's going to be screaming in pain for the rest of his life. The fuckers who did it are the kind who would be no loss to society if someone ran over them with a truck.

So, was he staggering around calling for help, or was he laying in the road unconscious?

From the way the article is worded, I believe he was staggering around calling for help for about an hour, before falling unconscious, and then he was found.

Asking "why" in cases like this is like asking why a bunch of teenagers once grabbed a 7 year old kid and threw him into the path of a locomotive, or why millions of Americans support the use of torture. Some people just love the idea of causing pain to others.
