Who do you vote for if it's McCain Vs. Hillary

Post by Straha »

So a series of three polls, starting with this. If Hillary wins the democratic primary who do you vote for?
'After 9/11, it was "You're with us or your with the terrorists." Now its "You're with Straha or you support racism."' ' - The Romulan Republic

'You're a bully putting on an air of civility while saying that everything western and/or capitalistic must be bad, and a lot of other posters (loomer, Stas Bush, Gandalf) are also going along with it for their own personal reasons (Stas in particular is looking through rose colored glasses)' - Darth Yan

Several months ago I would have held my nose, not looked in the mirror for a few days afterwards, and voted for Hillary.

After her constant parade of bullshit, personal attacks, and pandering, I wouldn't vote for her even if Zombie Hitler was running as a Republican.

For me, it'd either be third party or just leave that part of the ballot blank.

Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

I would vote for Hillary, because at the very least, she'd be more likely to aim politics in a generally Democratic direction. You might also get at least some issues done, assuming she gets a friendly congress.*

*A "friendly congress" should really be emphasized more in the public discussion about the presidential race. A president really can't do jack shit with a hostile opposition controlling Congress except certain initiatives and some military actions - it's unlikely, for example, that Bush would have been able to get the Iraq War going if his party didn't have firm control over Congress after 2002, and control over the House before that.

McCain. Because then there's a chance we'll have someone worthwhile in 2012.
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

I have to echo Glocksman here (woah lol, whut?). A year ago I would have voted for her as the "not McCain" candidate, but I can't in good conscience support her now.

Probably McCain, because Hillary has pissed me off with all the things she has pulled against Obama.

McCain. I voted for him in 2000 against Bush in their primary and then I voted Democrat after that.
This time I would be hesitant as all hell, but I would do it in the absolute hope that he gets into office and says "Ha Ha! Fuck you guys! I'm back!" In the hopes that he only sold himself to get into office because he knows he doesn't have the time to wait another 4-8 years.

I'd either vote third party or write in a vote for Obama.

Sadly, it won't mean diddly shit as I live in Texas and McCain is going to get the Texas electoral college votes...

If I could vote, I would hate myself for it and I'd hate her, but I would have to vote for Hillary Clinton. As much as you have to hate her for the way she got the nomination, from a cold and dispassionate point of view, her policies and platform are still way ahead of Bush II.

I can not in any context vote for McCain ever, even if it's Hillary/Zombie Hitler dream ticket.

I stay home. 4 years of Hillary will usher in a Republican backlash in 2012.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

McCain. That way all the current simmering problems (financial meltdown, crashing economy, peak oil, etc.) will become big crisis problems and bite the Republicans in the ass. Hopefully the people will become so fed up & disgusted that the GOP is ruined for a good long time.

Were two "castrate Straha" options really necessary?

Vote for Hillary, followed by ritual cleansing.

Oh come on, you know that's not how American politics works. Bad things happening don't turn people against the government anymore. It's all about "character." Do you have any idea how easy it would be for a decently charismatic Republican president to turn our discontent outwards, at foreign enemies or domestic "traitors?"

Like Canuckistan isn't the 51st state. If Blair was Dubya's poodle, Harper is Dubya's poodle bitch.

The only way Clinton would get my vote is (a) if Obama meets with an accident and there's no foul play and (b) I am just lazy and tired enough on election day to check the box for a straight Democratic ballot. I'm not about to cast a vote to ratify the theft of the nomination, which is the only other way Clinton can win.

Its saying something truly scary when a board this leftist has an election between a Republican and a Democrat as this close a thing.

I voted McCain by the way, since I consider them both Republicans and a vote for Hillary is therefore a vote for 8 more years of a Republican in the White House.

Well, you pretty much nailed it when you said "they're both Republicans". Hillary's cowboy swaggering about spanking Iran if they get too uppity, and dismissing actual economists in favor of her gut-wisdom gas tax holiday crap makes her little more than George W Bush with a bra.

Hillary, because the Republicans are so bad, and the Democrats so ineffectual that I wouldn't vote for a Republican no matter the opponent. Even if it was "Zombie Hitler" as a Democrat, he wouldn't be able to do as much damage as a Republican would. Keeping Republicans out of office as much as I can is my main political goal now.

I can't say right now because a vote for McCain is a vote for his VP to take over in 2 or 3 years. Now most likely for whoever he picks the answer will end up being Hillary because, as others have said, the Republicans ARE that bad.
