Clinton: Obama losing White Voters?

Post by General Zod »

Sauce.
CNN) — In what appear to be the New York senator's most blunt comments to date regarding a racial division in the Democratic presidential race, Hillary Clinton suggested Wednesday that "White Americans" are increasingly turning away from Barack Obama’s candidacy.

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY.

Clinton cited an Associated Press poll "that found how Senator Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

Exit polls from Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina show Clinton won about 60 percent of the white vote in both states. That percentage is down from the Ohio primary on March 4, in which Clinton won upwards of 65 percent of the white vote. Meanwhile, Clinton garnered 63 percent of the white vote in Pennsylvania on April 22.

Speaking with the paper, Clinton rejected the notion her comments were racially divisive in any way.

"These are the people you have to win if you're a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election," she said. "Everybody knows that."

Obama spokesman Bill Burton called Clinton's statements "not true and frankly disappointing."
This bullshit is absolutely hilarious.
"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY.
Which is why she's ahead in the primaries? Oh, wait. . .
"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.
Not the one Hitlery is seeing, but yes, there is a pattern.
"These are the people you have to win if you're a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election," she said. "Everybody knows that."
Because nobody else counts, *I'm a smarmy asshole*?

Oh, you mean Republicans who are voting in the primaries for you to spoil the election? They're the ones you have to win to get to office when you're a Democrat that is hated even by Democrats?

I'm a white, straight, male, and even I get squicked by politicians openly courting Whitey.

Am I wrong, or has the Obama campaign completely avoided language like this? Has he attacked Clinton for not being able to attract black voters?

Wow. She's not even hiding it any more. She's actually portraying herself as the Great White Hope.

My favorite part:

Maybe they like your math skills? I can honestly say that nobody is doing more to court the ignorant vote than Shillery. I can't imagine Obama ever bringing up a race issue of Clinton losing black voters. Is she saying that white voters are more important? I agree, Mike, she's trying to be the Great White Hope.

I would love to see a redo of Michigan and Florida now, and her to get tanked because now she's basically being racist.

Um...no. I don't know about Michigan, but Florida would only play into her White Power message. There is no possible way I see this state going for Obama in a redo.

There's not an overly racist vibe in my area, mind you. Just that when you combine the Latino vote (which is tending toward Clinton) with old white people, you're not going to come out Obama.

Predictably, on the CNN talkback forums, Clinton supporters are bringing up Reverend Wright and saying that Obama is just as racially divisive :banghead:

This explains how Obama has been winning places like Wyoming, where there might be, like, 4 black people in the state.

As people like Jon Stewart have been pointing out, Clinton's strategy vis a vie Obama is kind of funny, trying to portray him simultanously as Harvard Elitist and Malcolm X. She really is trying to get out the dumb racist vote, going for people who are both scared of black people and contempuous of intellectuals.

As I've said, Hillary is running a Republican campaign. Expect all this to triple in the General.

Why? Because the GOP has no policies to run on(McCain has said the answer to poverty is eBay). They must resort to smear and identity politics. Racism will be the dominant theme. And perhaps that's good. Perhaps it's time to stop pretending everything is hunky-dorey.

Still, Obama would get some FL delegates in a redo. Clinton only wants the current numbers from FL and MI's fake elections, which give her most all the delegates because Obama didn't even run.

Florida wasn't quite as bad as Michigan, as Obama was at least on the Florida ballot.
But given the fact that primary voters were told time and time again that the 'election' wouldn't count and no one actively campaigned in the state, how many voters simply stayed home?

The Florida primary results are deeply skewed, but at least it's not the Soviet style primary Michigan had where Hillary was the only one on the ballot.

And 'none of the above' still managed over 40%.

Speaking of Michigan and Florida, what I think is the tenth proposal from the states themselves came to the candidates, and Clinton killed it stone dead, for a compromise on Michigan.

She doesn't want it 'resolved', or she wouldn't keep killing these proposals.

I've heard the latest suggestion is to split Florida 50/50 or 60/40 Clinton/Obama.

Latest-latest was Michigan giving 69 dels to Clinton, 59 to Obama. Clinton killed it dead.

Even if this was true anyone at all interested in well being of their country wouldn't harp on it and basically base her "electability" on the very societal problems she should be trying to solve.

The problem with this is you assume that Clinton has the capacity to recognize what she's doing as being a problem.

This is an amazing election year. We'll possibly have the first black President, or the first female President. Two minorities in the scheme of things that have risen above adversity. But is the KKK sabotaging Obama? No, it's Reverend Dumbfuck. Are misogynist hordes making certain that Hillary will not only lose the election, but also lose any chance that she'd be picked as a VP if Obana wins? Nope. That's Hillary herself.

Again; amazing election year.

Quoting DailyKos since it breaks down how she isn't only rascist she's also WRONG.
Dailykos wrote:How is that not race-baiting?

Are African Americans not hard working? Are Americans with college degrees not hard working? And this obsession with race!

And she's wrong, too. Look at Obama's support in these relevant categories over the last six contests, spanning eight whole weeks.

_____________TX OH MS PA IN NC

White________44 34 26 37 40 37
No College____42 40 58 42 46 56
College Grad__55 51 62 49 50 57
Over $50K____51 47 52 45 49 60
Under $50K___47 42 66 46 50 54

So let's see what Clinton is claiming again -- that "Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."
Obama's support among whites is actually increasing compared to Ohio, Mississippi and Pennsylvania. She lied about that.

Obama's support among "hard working Americans", which is code for poorer Americans, has also increased over those in previous contests, save for Mississippi, where the under-$50K vote was overwhelmingly black.

Obama's numbers among college grads is static to increasing. We don't have exit poll breakdowns for education by race, and we can assume North Carolina's huge numbers with "no college" are due to the large African American percentages in the state. But what about Indiana, a state that is whiter (83.9%) than Pennsylvania (82.1%), Ohio (82.9%) and Texas (48.3%)? Despite the demographic disadvantage, Obama actually increased his support among voters with no college degrees.

So how can Clinton be so wrong? Because she's citing an AP-Yahoo News poll from back on May 3rd. Rather than cite actual voter data, she is basing her claims on an old poll taken before the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.

Yup. That's what Hillary Clinton has been reduced to. Ignoring actual votes and cherry picking polls.
So yeah, not only is she race-baiting but she is also race-baiting using data which doesn't reflect actual votes. The votes, which she claims to want every one (except caucuses that didn't report actual numbers) counted, tell acompletely different story where she is completely wrong. I'd sigh but then agian its not a huge suprise.
