In a case that has come to light in East Uusimaa in the south of Finland, both parents are suspected of sexually abusing their child.
The family has two children, a 12-year-old girl and an adult son. The late-edition tabloid Ilta-Sanomat writes that the son is believed to have been the victim of the mother.
The suspicions of incest by the father against the daughter came out on Thursday.
Police did not say which of the children were involved in the suspicion against the mother. The mother’s alleged crime took place years before that of the father, and is believed to have continued for years at a time when the son was underage.
Police also confirm that the suspicions against the mother go beyond her knowledge of her husband’s activities.
The mother had been remanded in custody for a time, but she has been released. The father remains in custody at Jokela Prison. Both are middle-aged.’
Police say that the daughter had become pregnant as a result of the father’s abuse. Ilta-Sanomat wrote on Thursday that the daughter’s pregnancy was terminated when the event was revealed. She has been sent to a foster family in another community.
The preliminary investigation into the matter is still underway, and police will not disclose more of the matter because of its sensitivity. The trial will probably take place behind closed doors.
The police have been investigating the case of incest since February. According to Ilta-Sanomat, the police were informed of the case by school and social welfare authorities.

What seems odd is that the mother was abusing the son without the knowledge of the father, and the father was abusing the daughter without the knowledge of the mother, if I'm reading it right. What an odd set of coincidences.
I knew as soon as that dude in Austria made the news, that the press would start sniffing out all sorts of "all in the family" tales of creepy lust and pregnancies.
