It's like 2004 all over again with same old Republican bumpersticker-level understanding of history and politics that won Bush another term...

Yeah, I saw.

I Thought it was pretty funny.

Heh, I would have thought that the Republicans would, when digging-up Chamberlain's corpse to rape it, would at least have the decency of knowing who he is and why they're sticking their dicks in it.

I guess I made a mistake in expecting any sort of decency from them.

Chee-rist, that was *painful*. What's funny is that I know guys like Kevin James. They are conservative meathead frat boys who really don't know anything and get by by networking and catchphrases and being louder than the other guy. Listen to the guy talk. You could see him just repeating the same memorized lines over and over, literally because he probably DID memorize a whole laundry list of catchphrases to use during the interview. Sadly, that often works, because meatheads never expect to be challenged and rarely are.

Good on Chris Matthews for exposing the guy as a retard. It's a shame that Matthews could even get to the actual point he was trying make, that there is a marked difference between simply communicating with the bad guys and giving the Nazis Czechoslovakia, simply because the meathead wouldn't just admit he had no idea who Neville Chamberlain was (thus exposing how bad on an analogy Bush was making). It's also kind of a shame that the other guy in the interview kept getting talked over.

Still, I wonder if these bozos are going to make up their mind whether or not Obama is a Black Christian Radical ala Wright or a Super Secret Muslim working for Hamas or a elitist ivory league snob. I mean, god, pick one.

It's fascinating watching Kevin James' performance as his mind start running through his options. Chris Matthews isn't accepting the "He was an APPEASER!" line, and wants to know what Chamberlain did that made an appeaser. Response? Repeat the same thing, louder. And this isn't James' radio show so he doesn't have the power or authority to boot Matthews from the conversation and dismiss him as a radical liberal traitor fag. He's clearly on the defensive, then when Matthews corrects himself and says "1938 I mean, not 39", laughably tries to seize control again by saying "Which is it? '38 or '39? Which is it, huh?" Again, that might work to stop or trip up a caller on his radio show, but Matthews never gave up control. I loved the "he's a blank slate" line at the end, in particular watching James at the same time still try and assert himself.

Matthews is still a moron and has been peddling irrelevant trite BS this entire primary season. But it's good to know that he can also bust someone.

I hate American news shows. People argue about the same shit forever and then they either get away with lying or have to be shouted down for the truth to be said, which is then immediately ignored, and then when they try to move on they can't.

Hmm...if MSNBC's general coverage is as good as this guy and Olbermann are, I may have to start watching that channel.

That was just painful to watch, especially that look of incomprehension on the idiot's face.

The only thing that would have made it better is if Tweety had started dubbing in a laugh-track on James.

I loved that. When James finally realized that his list of memorized catchphrases wouldn't work there, he put his fingers in his ears and started repeating "9/11! 9/11! 9/11!" (paraphrased, of course.)

It's almost gotten to the point where you don't even have to watch the show to see what the right wing loony is saying. They're all just following the same script.

My favorite bit is when the other guy pointed out that Bush 1 was president during the 1993 attack which James was blaming Clinton for, and recommended Richard Clarke's book, his response was to tell the guy to watch Pathway to 9/11.

Seriously? An ABC historically inaccurate Docudrama/blatant slander of Clinton is on the same level as a book by a guy who was the Chief National Security adviser during not only the Clinton years, but through 9/11 as well?

To suggest that piece of shit propaganda trash holds the same weight as a guy with 30 years of experience in the executive branch really shows the crazy alternate reality these people live in.

I've got to hand it to Chris Matthews on that one. Usually he's a bit of a blowhard, but Kevin James was a fucking moron, and Matthews pointed out it out harshly.

I mean, seriously, the guy had no idea what Chamberlain did to appease? I thought that was pretty super-basic American history; I remember first reading about it in a book on World War 2 that I found in my elementary school library.

I think they were referring to the 9/11 attack, but the point is still valid. Bush didn't do anything different from what Clinton did, and nothing to prevent 9/11 after the Cole bombing happened only a year earlier

 Am I the only person disturbed by this?

I rarely watch US talkshows but if many people do act that way, with that "buzzspeak' idiocy when they don't know what the fuck they are talking about, and even yet more agressive talk, that is very sad.

"Obama, Hamas, evil evil evil, energized, legitimized, appeaser"...

Good god, the guy looked like he was some sort of raving propagandist a-la Goebbels, with the same scream-shout style of speech and the same buzzword phrases. :(

What is even more appaling is that some people probably think this type of talking on TV is okay.

I haven't seen stuff like this behaviour, remotely comparable on th Russian TV, only from neo-nazi and neo-fascist loons which we sadly also have :(

Yeah, when the host kindly explained to the moron that Chamberlain gave Hitler Czechoslovakia, a sovereign nation, not just talked to him, I expeted the video to end.

Instead, that loon suddenly said: "We can ONLY talk from a position of force" or something like that.

I really felt uneasy when I heard this. :(

Well, in this case Chris Matthews was pulling a bit of a Paxman on this Kevin James fellow. Restating the same question over and over until you get an answer, or until the lack of an answer becomes a thing in itself. The problem is that people like James can get humiliated on cable TV seven days of the week and still keep their radio shows, and there will always be stone cold retarded people to listen to them and believe them.

But yeah, American news programming is basically complete shit and it's more than a little embarrassing to live in a country where the media demands that we treat the Democratic Primary Race, and the 2008 General Election itself, as if the underdog party actually deserves a chance. Reading what they write, and listening to what they say about either issue is like entering some kind of arcane fantasy land. By all rights, with support for the Iraq War (the single most important issue of our time) riding at less than 30% or so, McCain should be a shoo-in for the hall of Presidential Election ignominy, like Goldwater or Mondale--and we really shouldn't give two shits about what George W. Bush, Mr. 28%, says about appeasement. But the 24 hour news cycle demands more grist for the mill, more phony stories. So it goes.

That was disgusting and insulting. I pity the US citizens who have to put up with this.

This guy showed incredible historical ignorance. I would have thought that every Right Wing notable would have memorized Chamberlain's appeasement politics if only to show how "weak and pathetic and scared" Europeans are and as one more reason why Europe as a collective should be always grateful to USA. But no.

Besides, he insults Chamberlain by comparing him to Bush; at least Prime Minister Chamberlain learned from his grievous error (although it was too late for many) and took a decisively stronger stance against Hitler, although his career was already over. Bush has done nothing of the sort (and wouldn't probably recognize a Hitler-like dictator even if one would piss on his face while calling hin names).

Is this an indication of the average intelligence of Right Wing talk show hosts and similar people? if it is, I pray to God that the next generation shows much more potential. That is downright creepy and dangerous.

It's extra hilarious when you consider that if your nation is ever in a position of weakness, all you can do is fight. It isn't often that right-wing policy positions are so transparently self-destructive.

Anyway, Hardball is rarely that good. Keith Olbermann is the one and only reason for watching that network, and if something awesome happens on one of the other shows he'll cover it anyway.
