Hillary's Speech

She on the podium now.

If I recall, the news had something about her appearing in a McCain campaign ad this afternoon. I'll try to find the article.

They're just using stock footage. It's not like she agreed to be in it or anything.

Hillary doesn't have the gift of the silver tongue, but she does have considerable speaking skill, the woman gives a good speech, I am enjoying listening to her speak.

Could she theoretically seek legal action against the McCain campaign if she didn't agree? Songwriters did the same when he used their songs without permission for his ads.

No, because public figures don't really have that level of protection. So anything they do in public can legally be used against them by other politicians.

Yes but the speeches were public and the images are from publc broadcasts which means that even without her position as a public figure she would have no course of action.

It was a fine speech, and exactly what Clinton needed to say. In particular, effectively asking her supporters if they still shared her ideals struck right to the heart of the matter. Hopefully, it will work on some of them; the rest probably wouldn't have voted for Obama anyways.

The vast, vast majority Hilary supporters who are going from Hillary to McCain such as the West Virginians aren't doing so from any real ideological or issues reason, they're voting because they wanted a (White) Democrat but they'd prefer a White Republican to a Black Democrat as president. It's essentially as simple as that, considering the massive overlap in Hilary and Obama's policies.

In defense of my adopted state, McCain is doing horribly here, compared to what he should be doing. He's an injured vet running on patriotism and bravado against outsiders. It should be 80-10. But McCain hasn't broken fifty percent here yet.

There's a very, very simple reason. We are basically ground zero in the healthcare crisis.

True, but they just came to mind since the absurd percentage that listed "Racial Issues" on why they preferred Hilary to Obama

Honestly, I didn't think the numbers were much outside the normal rate. Of course, that's saying dick.

What killed Obama in the primaries was being outspent, outstumped(10 to 1 ratio), and running against a Clinton. West Virginians liked the Clintons, even if I never quite grasp why.

I don't anticipate the state going blue, but we'll see. It's gonna come down to whether Capito sinks and burns, really. McCain will be a victor here or casualty here based on the most visible Rubber Stamp for Bush in the state. Like most isolationists, they don't care much about Washington, just whose representing them.

Isn't West Virginia where Bloomberg got on the ballot for President? What would his effects as a spoiler be-- for anyone?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

I can't find any polls with him on it, so this is all IMHO.

King Coal and it's cronies will run to Bloomberg.

The Snake Handlers will all depend on how Capito does. If she can get off her dainty ass and get the votes out, they'll go GOP. Otherwise, expect the Religious Right vote here to split between Bloomberg(Prosperty gospel folks), Constitution Party(Millenialists), and McCain(He's not a MUSLIM!).

The Vets are not Stupid here. That means they'll increasingly tilt away from McCain. Whether they stay home or not is a harder question. Insufficient Data.

Working class are going to go to Obama, the rural xenophobes will go GOP because they always go to their security blanket. The students will go Obama, and the lawyers will split up and be very pompous at each other.

That's my two pence. Exchange rates may cause this value to change without warning.
