Michigan court ends GOP effort to disenfranchise voters

Post by ArcturusMengsk »

Link
An agreement announced today by Obama for America, the Republican National Committee, the Democratic National Committee, the Michigan Republican Party, the Michigan Democratic Party, the Macomb County Republican Party, the Macomb County Democratic Party, and plaintiffs Duane Maletski, Sharon Lopez, and Frances M. Zick protects the voting rights of foreclosure victims. The settlement acknowledges the existence of an illegal scheme by the Republicans to use mortgage foreclosure lists to deny foreclosure victims their right to vote. This settlement has the force of law behind it and ensures that Republicans cannot disenfranchise families facing foreclosure.

What grounds were they trying to push this on? since when does foreclosure disqualify someone from voting? It wasn't a felony last I checked.
I had a Bill Maher quote here. But fuck him for his white privelegy "joke".

All the rest? Too long.

The principle of 'Less voters is better', an odd one that the GOP nonetheless embraces lately.

The head shed from all the big groups don't want the low folk to be part of the system. Why should they?

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

The Fact they're much more likely to vote anything but Republican on Election day which is a felony for Republicans.

I read it wrong. I was reading the agreeing parties the start of the article. I apologize.

Ahhh. No worries.

Yea, when all the articles I had read about the process of it being pushed around various courts only had the GOP, that statement confused.

Edit: Forgot to add: Not that the Democrats are terribly averse to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, at least in the past.

The trick was the whole re-registering during a change of address, arguing that those people were no longer living where they were being evicted from, due to the whole stock market crisis.
