WBC to picket the funeral of Madelyn
Payne Dunham, - pursuant to the
picketing laws of Hawaii or Kansas or,
etc., wherever burial occurs, - in
religious protest and warning to the
living; to wit: "Prepare to meet thy God."
Amos 4:11.
Yes. Dying time is truth time, and reflection time,
and time for meditating on the weighty issues of
life: getting right with God, life, death, Heaven, Hell,
sin, righteousness, judgment to come, etc. Obama
says his grandmother Dunham raised him, and,
her "influence on his manner and the way he
viewed the world was substantial." If so, then she
has much to answer for as she stands before the
Lord. Obama says he will use the White House as
a Bully Pulpit to advance the cause of murdering
more babies and same-sex marriage. "God hath
appointed a day, in the which He will judge the
world in righteousness by Christ." Acts 17:31.
"And shall not God avenge his own
elect, which cry to him day and night?"
Luke 18 :7.
"For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will
recompence, saith the Lord. It is afearful thing to fall into the hands of
the living God.." Reb. 10:30,31.

Utterly disgraceful. With the President elect being there, and thus an army of secret service agents also in attendance, I hope that they can push these people back so far as to make sure they are never seen by any of the mourners.

This, combined with the changing of the laws in California, might just push forth some progress in gay marriage situations across the US. Just looking on the bright side.

Um....how? We just took a major step backwards, and this fuels that backwards step. Other than possibly getting more people involved in the cause, I don't see how this helps or even applies one bit. Even many prop 8 supporters will look at the WBC as crazies. Secretly they will support what they are doing, but will parrot a No-True-Scotsman if anyone tries to claim their support of Prop 8 mirrors the WBC.

This is a non-story. They always release that they are going to picket someone in the news' funeral as a publicity stunt to remind people they still exist and then never show up.

I already posted this in the Obama' Grandmother thread. As I said there, I don't know how much trouble they can cause, or even if they'll be able to go anywhere near the funeral, with the Secret Service that's sure to be on the scene.

So, a radical group is going to protest the funeral of a private citizen, just because she was the grandmother of the now president-elected. A private citizen who's exsistence in no way, shape, or form, reflects their claimed motivations and beliefs.
Real good for their image.
And real stupid to. I can imagine some of those idiots carry firearms. Carrying a firearm to a protest about something the next President is going to be at.
Yeah, they are BEGGING for trouble here. I hope the Secret Service handles them as they deserve to be handled.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

I'd be amazed if WBC actually had the balls to show up. But then again they seem to thrive on screeching about persecution.

I'd be surprised if they can actually afford to fly enough supporters out to Hawaii (where the funeral will most likely be) to actually be noticed, even if they try. It's not like they can load up a bunch of troglodytes in a bus to get there on the cheap.

On that note, where do they get their funds now? I know it used to be off of lawsuits until the head asshole got himself disbarred. Do his children and what not make that much off of their own practices and other businesses?

Firearms can't really be brought on a plane to Hawai'i, and Hawai'i has some pretty strict gun laws. It's going to be waay too much of a hassle.

The WBC's image has been tarnished beyond salvation at this point. They became a public enemy the minute they decided to protest the funerals of soldiers. You know it's bad when you're right wing and yet have FOX News blast you with all sorts of obscenities. They know that this isn't going to help their image but their image can't go down much further so they're just going to be assholes about it. But with Obama now President-Elect of the most influential nation in the world, it would be interesting to see how he deals with this menace.

It'll probably never happen, but I'd like to see them get put on the terrorist watch list myself.

Sure they can. You have to put them in checked luggage and conform to a few other safety regulations, but you most certainly can take guns with you when flying commercially in the US.

And the Hawai'i gun laws are likely to be more of an obstacle than the airline policies.
That said - the Secret Service will be out in force. Mr. Obama is not only wearing the red shirt every PotUS wears, he's got a flashing neon target on his whether anyone speaks publicly of it or not. The Secret Service will be happy to let any crazies wave signs waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the road from where the Obama's will be. Well out of rifle range. This is non-negotiable. The mourners will neither see nor hear them, if the WBC assholes even manage to show up.

Have they ever used violence at a protest before? I hope it doesn't happen, because it would be a further insult to Obama's family and the last thing we want is violence anywhere near the President.
I'm just wondering how likely it is that these assholes will give the Secret Service an excuse to can their asses.

The Secret Service has a rather broad authority to detain anyone who might be a threat to the people they are charged to protect. We're not talking about disappearing anyone, but they can certainly inconvenience people. Also keep in mind that a verbal statement that can be construed as a threat to the PotUS is a felony in the US. There are instances where no charges are pressed, but, for example, wishing death on a PotUS will get you hustled off in handcuffs even if you are clearly unarmed at the time of such statement.

Here's the thing about the Phelps cult: Fred the patriarch is a lawyer, and he made his kids (the ones who weren't able to escape) all becomes lawyers too. They know the law very well, and they're very careful to do everything that is legal to be obnoxious pains-in-the-ass without ever crossing into illegality, because if they did they'd be rounded up so fast that it'd impress Iron Curtain secret police. Since they know damn well that the Secret Service are going to about, they'll know what they can and can't do in their quest to piss off every single person on Earth and get into Asshole God Heaven.
They also try everything they can to make other people attack them. They get off on feeling oppressed, and once someone snaps, then they can sue everybody else involved.

So how can Obama make sure these failed abortions never even get the chance to shit on his grandma? Because if there was a way to punish these evil, morally bankrupt worthless submosquitoes (or at least establish a sensible "fighting words" clause in civil law), then surely Obama can find several.

In short, yes. There's lots of working age kids, grandkids and great grandkids, and there's a fair few of them. They go to school, they work as nurses and lawyers and other things and fund the community. You have to remember that the compound they live on is an actual community, and the us-vs-them tribalism heaped on theologically and socially is actually a pretty strong bond within the family.

I'd be willing to bet that these assholes are probably already on the list, and are subject to secondary inspections at every airport they go to. I know the Bush administration at least has taken a pretty dim view of these idiots and has quietly looked for ways to subtly give them trouble. They watch these people pretty closely.

The Patriot Guard Riders make a habit of showing up at funerals where the WBC threatens to protest.
I know it's kinda difficult to ride a Harley from California to Hawaii, but the idea of a bunch of bikers superimposing themselves between the crazies and the mourners makes me smile.
Even though in reality the US Secret Service wouldn't let either group get withing firearm range of the President-elect.
As far as the WBC goes, I'm damn surprised that some grieving family member hasn't shot at least one of the bastards by now.
