33 Chilean Miners alive and well, but still underground

I don't have a good article that explains it all, but the wiki is a great source of info.

Basically, on August 5th there was a massive collapse in a tunnel segment in a Chilean mine. Thirty-three miners were trapped about two THOUSAND feet underground. When the rescue boring reached them weeks later, they were shocked to find the miners were still alive!

Since then they've been receiving air, shipments of supplies, and they have had video communication with the outside. Unfortunately, it will take 3 or 4 more months to reach the miners. Its really quite mind-boggling that their situation is so dire and yet stable as to create this dilemma. Its almost like trying to rescue people from the surface of the moon.
