Good news about: Child Mortality

Post by Setzer »

http://english.aljazeera.net//news/afri ... 85980.html

According to the World Health Organization, the annual death rate for children under 5 has fallen from 12 million in 1990 to 7.6 million in 2010. Reasons for the lower death rate include better access to health care and preventive measures such as immunisation, clean water and better nutrition.

Maybe I could make this a regular thing. Pick some incredibly morbid topic and report some good news on it.

I like the idea of a good news thread. Good news about relatively politically uncontentious topics like this one aren't reported enough.

True, every time I switch on the news it just depresses the holy hell out of me these days. Keep it up, Setzer, scour the articles of the world for those cheerful nuggets of good news :D
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Destiny and fate are for those too weak to forge their own futures. Where we are 'supposed' to be is irrelevent.

The same here, I refrain myself to watch the news, for me the local news are even more depressing. However is nice to see a beacon of hope that humanity is making some things good in a sea of grimdark. Sometimes I fell like if humanity survives up to the year 40K, warhammer it would be nothing compared to it.
