McDonald's Secret Ingredient

Post by Ahriman238 »

Okay, nothing to do with what actually goes into fast 'food,' but apparently a Pittsburgh McDonald's employee was selling horse with the food.

A McDonald’s worker is accused of putting a little extra something in Happy Meals sold at a Pittsburgh drive-through: heroin.

Police said they arrested the 26-year-old woman Wednesday after buying the drugs at a McDonald’s in the East Liberty neighborhood, NBC station WPXI of Pittsburgh reported.

Here’s how the operation worked, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office told WPXI:
•A customer who wanted to buy heroin would go to the drive-through speaker and say, “I’d like to order a toy.”
•The customer would then stop at the first window, pay and get a Happy Meal box containing heroin in small bags.
•The customer would leave without stopping at the second window.

Detectives said they did just that, and arrested Shania Dennis of East Pittsburgh. The DA’s office said detectives got 10 bags of heroin in the Happy Meal box and found Dennis with 50 more.

WPXI said it had a chance to ask Dennis if she was selling the heroin. Her response? “No, I was not.”

The station reported that it was unclear whether this case is related to the arrest earlier this month of another McDonald’s worker accused of selling heroin in a restaurant parking lot in Murrysville, Pa.
Wonder what happened to people who honestly pulled up and said "I'd like to order a toy (to shut up my kid.)"

A severe case of sticker shock, probably.

Probably something between "Holy shit, is this drugs?" and "holy shit, there's my heating bill right there."

Schemes like this are hardly new; in the neighbourhood of my high school you asked for a sandwich with
"extra green" to buy weed there. Though considering the hard drugs being moved, you would thing they'd have taken care to be a little more subtle; not stopping at one of the windows at all has to be suspicious.

Eh, not really. Think about how many people probably go through that drive-thru on a daily basis, and how rushed the rest of the employees would usually be. Add in that this would only be happening on the dealer's shifts (because drug dealers know their regular customers), and I can easily see the occasional drug deal getting lost in the crowd.

Easily. I've worked at McDonald's back in the day, and drive-offs happen. All the dealer would have to say is "he didn't have any money" if asked about why the car kept going and most folks wouldn't think twice until the cameras got checked or someone blabbed. No one gives a fuck about having to serve one less pain-in-the-ass.

Yeah, fast food workers just don't give a shit. Many wouldn't even care if they knew drug deals were going down. It isn't worth the effort of trying to prove it and making waves like that can cost you your job. In an economy like this nobody is willing to risk their job over something like that, considering how hard it is to prove that someone knew about a drug deal going down. But yeah, fast food workers tend to be pretty apathetic about what their coworkers are up to or what customers do so long as it won't affect their paycheck.

Every other year or so around here they discover a fast food joint selling drugs. Not really anything new.
