First, in-line that first one.

Second, we've been over this already. War is terrible. Every war has pictures like that. Hell, I bet there are pictures like that of German Nazis from WWII, but no one would dare complain about those (Except Neos... but they're fucked up anyway). Does this imagery need to be shown to accurately portray the horrors of war? Yes. But at best it should be used as a deterrant to counter claims that war should be waged in the first place. Don't think that the President and his administration don't know that this kind of horrific imagery would exist prior to "declaring war" (which, BTW, we haven't done yet). But for some reason that escapes my (naive?) pacifist mind, they decided that this kind of sacrifice was necessary. We've heard their reasoning a million times: The casualties suffered now will prevent X^n times more casualties in the future. In short, we're creating this kind of imagery to prevent this imagery in the future. Of course, that's all speculation on the part of any political and military theoristthat says so, but, at the expense of an appeal to popularity, it seems to be an idea that most everyone can agree on.

I understand that you are remaining relatively neutral about posting these pictures, and I admire you for that. But the only point you can argue with pictures like that is simply that "war is terrible." Duh. But it's too late to protest now. So the best thing we can do is pray for as few images such as this as is possible.

I have a talent for repeating myself. But this is a good thread.

Just a gentle reminder, not every german soldier in WWII was a Nazi.

I'm saying this because I have photographs my grandfather made at the Ostfront which show both dead German and Russian soldiers and they are terrible.

Well, yes. I did start it, didn't I? Hm... But at least I had something to say about it. Stas Bush just said, "here are some pictures. Discuss amongst yourselves." Which isn't bad... but it also doesn't accomplish anything.

...I wonder why some people are so afraid to speak their minds... Not that I'm digging on Stas or anything, of course. But maybe if there were an actual TOPIC attached to this thread, it would go somewhere.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that they were... But people hold more animosity towards Nazis and the HJ than normal German soldiers. It was just an example.

Well i know some of the missiles have Britney Spears IQ,but it does`nt mean they`re targeting civilians on purpose,and by the way did your reliable Al-Jazeera mentioned about Iraqi civilians being shot by the RGs if they try to leave Bagdad.

You say "you" like we civilians had anything to do with it at all. Try not to make blanket-statements about Americans, because I take offense to that. I PROTEST this war. Grozny. Unsucessful in storming the city, Russian forces encircled it and shelled it indiscriminately with artillery.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but the USA could be fighting this war in a MUCH different manner, more like that of the Russians in Chechnya.
