Us presidents; the vicious and the viscous

Post by madd0ct0r »

The task of sorting previous holders of the office into "vicious presidents" and "idiot presidents" probably needs its own thread.

I'll start.
27min past the hour. 27th president is... Taft

President and chief justice. Abroad he Toppled and propped regimes in South America. At home he Used control of part mechanics to throw Roosevelt out.

Verdict. Vicious, not idiot

James Madison. The guy who picked a fight with a superpower while said superpower was mobilised to fight a total war, after his predecessor had spent his terms trashing the US military.

Anyone who thinks someone else is the worst US president has obviously never heard of him, but given that he showed up in person for a battle (his lot lost) probably irredeemably stupid rather malicious.

I think special mention in both categories must be given to Andrew Johnson, the alcoholic white supremacist President who deliberately sabotaged Reconstruction and facilitated the rise of the KKK (and the first US President ever to be impeached).

He's right there with Buchanan, Nixon, and arguably Trump under "Presidents who probably should have been charged with treason".

Andrew 'Trail of Tears' Jackson has to rank pretty high on the list of worst presidents, alongside every president prior to the Civil War.

EDIT:
Oh, and fuck Lincoln and his Homestead Act.

Lincoln was neither vicious nor an idiot in most things, but there's no defending that Act, no.
