The Iraqi Information Minister

Post by Darth Fanboy »

What do you think of this guy? I don't know how he spews that much bullshit and thinks he can convince anyone.

This guy told reporters that the Saddam Intl was still in Iraqi hands on Saturday, offered to take reporters there for a tour then backed out. now he is saying Us Soldiers are killing themselves on the outskirts of Baghdad and that.

Now he's mentioning something about banning Al-Jazeera from Iraq. What the hell is actually going on?

If I was in his shoes, get a deal from Syria and run like hell. I just might end up like his buddy "Chemical Ali" and get nailed by an airstike.
It startled him even more when just after he was awarded the Galactic Institute's Prize for Extreme Cleverness he got lynched by a rampaging mob of respectable physicists who had finally realized that the one thing they really couldn't stand was a smart ass. - The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Im not saying I wouldnt fib a bit to save my own hide but this seems like more than just lying, this seems utterly delusional. The US Is in Baghdad, the reporters know it, the soldiers know it, why deny that? Why ie about that? It just hurts the credibility of the regime to have its official media representative to go on the air and say things like "Yes we are still control of the country and thousands of Americans are dying, and our magical pony soldiers are throwing fireballs at the infidels and we all got ice cream! now thats what I call a sticky situation.

the best thing to do would be lying about the civilian casualties, lying about possible war crimes by US soldeirs and possible disrepct of Islam by US soldiers. Lying about the Us situation is ridiculous.

He reminds me of someone who continues to insist he has paid his mortgage despite the fact that the sherriff and auctioneer are in the front yard. Seems like he is even starting to believe the shot he is spouting. poor dumb bastard...he'll be dead soon.

He's the one that's telling people that Baghdad is safe and they still control Baghdad International? If so, I can just see him saying American troops are out of Baghdad while tanks roll by in the background, and jets fly by. I wonder what will happen to him after the war.

I don't know who the fuck he thinks he's fooling. I loved his one speech, in which he claimed in one sentence that the Americans had mercilessly slaughtered 78 Iraqi civilians. Two sentences later, he claimed that the Americans were not actually dropping bombs in Iraq, and five sentences after that he claimed that the United States had never actually engaged in a military offensive in Iraq.

Hah, yeah, it is bad when you try to ban the single most effective way of spreading their propaganda, simply because Al Jazeera doesn't filter out any bull and let's everything go unedited.

I can't really blame him. The guy keeps claiming that they are about to finish off the last Americans in Baghdad, and so forth and so on. Meanwhile, video from the front lines shows Americans in firm control of the areas they're occuppying, and not under substantial weapons fire. The fact that he would claim that the Americans weren't even in the city is absolutely ludicrous.

If I were him, I'd do the exact same thing he's doing. He's being handed a script and he knows unpleasant things are going to happen to him and his family if he deviates from it. He might not get off too badly with the Coalition or the new Iraqi government if he wasn't responsible for any atrocities. And even if the Americans hung him as soon as they got their hands on him, that's preferable to having his son's skin flayed off in front of him, I would assume.

Seeing as passing on stupid propoganda that's an absolute joke isn't a war crime he has no reason not to and every reason to do it. He's being smart about this, sure he's a joke but he's alive and is going to stay that way.

It might even be kinda fun to try and work out what to say.

"Hmm. How many children have the Americans butchered?"
"Thirty-seven."
"Eighty-two."
"Ninety. And their boots are made from the flesh of their mothers."
"Right. Now, what is the state of the American offensive?"
"They've surrendered."
"They've been driven out of the Middle East."
"They've been eaten by the Mummy."
"And how many casualties did they inflict?"
"Five."
"Two."
"Zero."

At which point the minister puts every single statement into a a speech, and delievers it with a straight face...

He's great, my mum loves him ("Oh, that funny little man is on telly again."). I hope they don't kill him so he can have his own show on Fox News.

As Philip Schofield said on This Morning today, "he could have a tank creeping up right behind him and still be convinced they were winning".

If he gives more outdoor press conferences that could happen.

You have to give the guy credit.

Out of all reporters and info groups, his story is the most static. Many of the western news sources have changed the same story atleast twice, he just says the same things.

He's my favourite person on TV right now. He kind of fills the comic relief role in a more or less static news flow.

The guy is old school propaganda- Goebbels could relate to him. Hope nothing happens to him after the war- really, all he did was lie, right- can you be charged for that? He'd be a great guy at parties.

Isn't the only real thing he could be charged with being aiding Saddam?
