Precisely zero, given:

- Russia's long-standing support of the Northern Alliance (their former enemies in the 1980s- the Taliban didn't exist back then) against the Islamic fundies since the 1990s;

- their stepping-up of arming the Northern Alliance post 9/11 (including, apparently, Russian crew for upgraded T-55AM2 tanks given to the Northern Alliance for their offensive against the Taliban

- the fact that the Taliban are Islamic fundie theocrats just like a certain bunch of cutthroats in Chechnya

This is the Taliban ineptly trying to sow distrust/ bolster up morale by claiming great power support like the Mujhadeen (who the Taliban are not) back in the 1980s got from the US.

The Taliban existed throughout the 1980's, they just kept out of the way in camps in Pakistan and built up there strength.

Not to mention that there were Russian troops stationed along the borders of the Central Asian republics of the former USSR, trying to keep the Taliban from going into them, and turning them into militant fundie theocrcies. The fact is that Russia is on the forefront of the struggle with Islamic fundamentalism.

Have a very nice day.

Well, I suppose it depends on how many Russian supply convoys get captured by the chechens, and how much of that stuff the chechens turn around and sell to the Taliban. Then, in a roundabout way I suppose you could legitimately claim that the Russians were supplying the taliban.
