Sputnik is a heritage of all of mankind. It is moraly reprehensible that such a thing could be turned into a commercial object. Sputnik one is one of the most important pieces of human history and deserves a place in an aerospace musuem not a collectors home. If the russians can not pay for it the US goverment should buy it and put it in the smithsonian intstitute for preserving it for future generations.
