AZ is fucked....

Post by MKSheppard »

There's no gasoline flowing into Arizona thanks to a shattered pipeline...
yet I don't see much mention of it in the news...probably
because the governor of the state is AZ's first Dem governor in
a long time...

Technically, it's Phoenix that's only being affected, but yeah. We're fucked.
Gas stations ran themselves dry thinking that supply would be restored, but no luck. Trucking in fuel isn't even restoring the "tertiary reserves" that the outlets have used up.
In a word, we're fucked in the Phoenix area for at least the next two weeks.

yes because a pipeline being old obviously is the fault of a democrat, whereas if there had been a republican governor you would be defending him to the death saying that the governor has nothig to do with it.

Actually I do believe Shep is making refrence to the fact that there seems to be a bias in reporting the news because the governor is a democrat and NOT because the governor being a democrat somehow magicked this pipeline burst.

I believe Shep is linking lack of news coverage to the democrats, not the line breakage.

That was on NBC about a half hour ago.

-sigh- Look there is no need to bring evidence into this, we were doing perfectly fine before you brought in this 'proof'.

A gasoline shortage is not that bad in terms of immediate critical effects. It's not like losing water treatment or something like that.

I live in Mesa and my mom and brother just went to the only open gas station, they should be waiting in line a while. Whey tood our gasoline cans with them....

Shep, I fail to see how the political affiliation of the governer would affect the reporting bias. If anything FAUX News would be trumpeting this as a failure of the democratic party.

I thought this had happened awhile ago. It looks like the line was busted on the 11th. On the news it was mentioned that in Tucson only one brand of gas station would be impacted by the pipeline rupture. It wasn't one that I even went to so I kind of put it out of my mind. What was more interesting was the clean up they had to do because of the rupture. It was supposed to have spilled into a new home developement that is under construction.

I just bought gas the other day and I didn't really pay attention to the cost. I suppose I should but I don't recall the final price being significantly higher than what I usually pay. The tv news did report last week that prices had risen a few cents per gallon. I'm sure that they'll go up more now that Phoenix is hurting. As the article says Airzona doesn't currently have any anti-gouging laws. This incident has led the governor to propose one.

Up to date info
About 70 percent of the gas Phoenix uses comes from California, and the rest from Texas, but all of it comes from Tucson through a single pipeline.
Mwahahaha, take that Maricopa County. Keep on sucking up state tax dollars we'll just keep the gas.

Is it just me or does anyone else think it is freakin' stupid that 1). most of Phoenix' gas comes from one pipeline? 2). WTF is with it being stored in Tucson?
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.

Gas prices spiked here. They said they would a few days ago. I just tanked up today and it was $2.05/gal for 87 octane. Thats about .20 more per gallon than my last refill.
